first grow - black jack 5 days since sprout

so, got my first grow started and worried (maybe paranoid) but seems like my babe might be growin slower than expected and the first leaf set seems to be curling down a good bit.

see pics. the second one (very small) just sprouted through the soil today. they're under 400w mh 24/7 with oscilating fan and air vented light exhaust out of the grow room via the air duct.

just using basic scott's soil, no nutes. watering em once a day (soil usually dry on top and jiffy pot dried up by then) by pouring distilled water onto the plate and letting the jiffy pot + soil absorb it.

humidity in the room is about 40-50% and temp is about 80-85 degrees F. got another fan coming hopefully pull it down a few degrees.

i noticed a couple of gnats flying around my plate so i put some pearl stone rocks on top of the soil to prevent them from laying eggs in the soil and put a plate with lime + rum over to the side to attract them (did this just tonight a few mins ago).

thanks for any help/thoughts on my setup.

awesome, glad you didn't see any problems. i "think" i have the gnat problem under control but the bigger plant from above pics seems like the concerning issues i've noticed are getting worse:

1) leaf sets are curling under even more
2) green is quickly turning more yellowish
3) around the edges of the textured leaves it almost looks a little brownish

still researching trying to find what these symptoms may be an indication of but its hard because they're still so young..

thanks again

bump to get another opinion.

i waited to water the babies a little longer and the jiffy pots / top soil were very dry and the leaves looked even more curled under than ever. i went ahead and put in some water hoping they would spring back up but still looking rather sickly.
