One of my plants is growing at a ridiculous rate, and I really want to clone that one. I could build a clone box before I move, but I'm planning on taking a vacation while college is out. Not sure if there's anyway I could clone something in a small box that is on the move. I'll have pictures up later tonight.

Picture Update # 7 Look at that huge plant, that is growing at 4x the rate of the other plants despite starting at the same time. Gave all the plants another dose of superthrive, this I plan on being the last dose this grow. Trying to speed up the root growth, and make the ones in the 4in pots ready to transplant. I plan on transplanting all of them to growbags except the ones in 5 gallon pots by thursday.

Growing has transformed my life in many ways. I feel as if I have a responsibility to take care of them. Since I brought them into this world, it is my duty to keep them healthy. I cannot take a vacation due to these plants, and must stay around them. I want to keep the genetics from this big plant, and as such I must keep these genetics at all costs, maybe I'll make a clone box and let my friend hold onto it for me.

Okay, I have done a lot of research on L.E.D.'s recently and have come to the conclusion I want one. Going to hang it off the handle of my Stanley blower, and run it with my MH or HPS. Since the triband I'm buying is high in red, MH is sounding really appealing. Going to order it thursday, so I should have it setup by the end of next week, or the beginning of the 4th week.

Kind of disappointed that not many people like my grow journal, put quite a bit of effort into keeping this regularly updated. Like I said before, feel free to comment. There really is no point to having a grow journal online if no one is interested in your grow. It certainly does not give you the enjoyment a real journal does, it's less magical.

With that said, the plants are doing well. One of the bagseed had a skunky like stank when I took a whiff of it, it could of been the bat guano though. Never heard of a plant having a odor till flowering. None of the other bag seed had the odor. Mistake still have that curl too the initial leafs, though the new ones look fine. The little discoloration of the leaves on the stout fat plant have not disappeared from the first set of leaves, but do not seem to be continuing with the new growth. I think it was just a little bit of light bleaching to be honest, since I had them 24" under the MH just a couple days after they got true leaves.

Eventually I plan to make the switch to an LED array, and do away with my 400w baby. I see the downsides to the H.I.D., with that said I think one 90w ufo which I am ordering thursday is only strong enough for one or two plants if used alone. The reason I say this is because if you move the LED close to the foliage, and have it that close you are increasing the plants absorbtion, similar to how you can move a 400w closer and get better growth due to more light particles being absorbed. I can't seem to find any non forum based, non advertisement claims LED info. Much of what I have learned is due to reading KhyberKitsune on cannabis forums. Not to knock him he is doing great things with LED's, but he is extremely biased towards his own products yet does not advertise them. He seems to show disdain for Bridgelux diodes, cause they are cheaper. From what I have gathered others have had great success with these lights.

I won't make the full migration to L.E.D.'s for awhile now, probably going to start with picking up three more ufos within the next 6 months. One for a veg chamber, and the other two to drop into my 3x3 tent. Too run that setup would be much more efficient than a 400w HPS. 90wx4 = 360ws of energy with more output than a 400w, and possibly a 600w. From what I've read a 90w does not equal a 400w HPS or MH in flowering. That statement is true during vegetative though according to KhyberKitsune. The only problems with L.E.D.'s for me is the fact that in the winter my plants could freeze to death at the temperature I like to keep my house. So I would have to run the heat more, or give them a personal heater killing whatever efficiency I had gained from using L.E.D.'s.

It should be interesting both for me and everyone who reads this journal to see what a 400w MH, and a 90w UFO can accomplish in a 3x3 area. I would prefer to put my UFO all the way down, just close enough to cover all the plants in the LED light. It is less efficient at the height of an HID, since the penetration is not as good on the 120 degree angle that I am looking to purchase. I would like to get everyone some more statistics on L.E.D.'s and in a configuration affordable for most people. Most people cannot afford to drop 1000$ + on a high grade L.E.D. light just for the sake of saving power. H.I.D.'s are like the AK-47 of grow lights strong, get good results, and built to withstand the test of time. I'm hoping to persuade more people to start using LED combinations, instead of using big 1000w systems. To me anything above a 600w H.I.D. is a waste of electricity from what I have concluded through research. Just to let everyone know, I am not affiliated with any grow light company. This is not an advertisement or more hype for L.E.D.'s it's just a hypothesis at the moment. Only time will tell the end results.

P.S. Will get pictures up to everyone before I go to work.

Update : I found a grower friend to carry a clone for me while I'm out of town. So when I come back, I'll have a plant with strong genetics

Pre-flowers on my biggest plants already, the two feminized and the big bud seed. 3 female, and it looks like I'm going to get another female as well. 4 females is not bad, and with another 12 days left of veg. Should be interesting :) Going to have my LED by thursday, so that should boost the vegetative gains by a substantial amount.

I am a bit confused now about the pre flowers, did a little bit of quick research to confirm if what I saw today was really pre-flowers. I've heard you shouldn't see them until 4 weeks, yet I see little nubs at about 2 weeks.... They're growing just above the false leafs, and on my biggest plant growing out of the top as well. They look like little green pistils. All of my my larger plants are developing them. Most notably the feminized ones, as they're the most pronounced. Followed by my big bud seed.

I just got my first confirmed female plant yesterday! I believe 2 more also have the white hairs but I couldnt get a pic of them. I did post a pic in my journal if you want to take a look and see if yours looks the same. Good Luck!

Thank you so much for your assistance, your plants look nice. You also helped me confirm that I am indeed growing two different feminized seeds. I was really gone that night evidently haha

Update: Won't have the UFO, apparently expedited shipping is another way of saying UPS ground... so I won't have it till Friday. It's time to transplant all my little pots into big grow bags now that I got soil, but I'm scared ;(

All transplanted into grow bags, one didn't quite get 3 gallons worth of soil, more like 1.5 gallons. I've got much better at transplanting, practice makes perfect. After my first two rough transplants, I learned from everything I did wrong how to do it right. My first transplant to grow bag is turning a little yellow in the leaves, I think it is dying on me or just extremely stressed.

Your Welcome! I try to help if I can. I still dont know a whole lot but i am learning. I have asked many questions on here and a lot of times people just arent interested in answering them. lol

My theory has always been lead by example, whenever I feel something needs changing I try to lead by example. Heck it just might persuade other people to do similar things. Once I'm a bit more learned, going to try to help people out or in some way contribute back :D

Set my bat guano on the top layer of the soil, for a slow release every time I water it. Also put my compost bucket right in the tent, thinking about uncovering it so all that carbon dioxide goes into the room! Talk about a cheap way to carbon dioxide your plants, and give them plant food! Win win situation. I berkeley compost, not sure how it will turn out in a bucket. I use to do it all the time when I had a yard. Now I live in an apt building, and am trying this out. I think it will work, since I just throw it under the hid.

It's fucking war!!!! I think I found some spider mites on my first transplant, but can't really be sure if it's. I sprayed the little brown specs that kind of look like dirt off the plant. Not sure if the plant is dying from my poor transplant or those fuckers!! Going to get me some hotshot pest strips tomorrow, these fuckers going to die!

Okay I think it's just dirt, and the plant is dying. Whatever the brown specs are, they don't move. Though there is a couple brown spots that I just can't get rid of.. Freaked me out. Going to see if all that 'dirt' is back under my plant tomorrow when I wake up. If it is I'm just going to assume it's mites and nuke the fuckers. Only on this plant, and I think spider mites would have gone rabid throughout the whole 3x3x6.5 room. I did some research, and spider mites are pretty rare in my climate.

I got a problem plant, had too cut off two leaves at the bottom that were overly damaged from some brown spots. Not Nute burn, that much is certain. It got the same dose as everyone else, and it's the only plant out of the batch that reacted badly. I was told this could be a fungus, and I should destroy the plant any one have anything on this?

Picture Update # 9 : Solved some plant problems, the one that I chopped the damaged leaves off of has a small sign of whatever it was on it's top leaf. No idea what caused it, doubting the possibility of nutrient burn but it could just not take nutrients very well. Only thing I added was a topping of guano, every other plant loved it... This one seemed to have a bad day. 3 nice sized plants, 9 days left of veg.

Woot got my UFO, going to take some pics in a bit. Strangely since I'm doing two lights, a metal halide and an LED, I don't have that eerie glow that LED's typically give off. I however do have a slight tinge as you'll notice when I take pictures later. UFO raised my temps by about 3 farenheight, nothing to complain about but, most people think they add no heat to your grow. Which is untrue, LED's are only lacking currently because they can't be cooled well enough yet or else they'd be able to push more power into the diodes.
