First Grow - All-In!

** In consideration of the stickies, I'd like to post this note that I love constructive criticism, comments, suggestions, et cetera so feel free to say whatever you'd like in my grow journal! **

Hello! I'm new to the community although I've lurked around quite a bit for a long time, dreaming of starting a grow in my extremely dry and scarce medical area. I never acted on those hopes until a couple months ago, and never let myself get excited until two days ago when I had my first sprout. I used to be big on forums a few years ago but never really had anything I loved enough to bring me back to one until now what with work and my family responsibilities, but you'll be seeing quite a few updates to this particular thread. However, I'm a newbie and I appreciate any and all advice, I definitely need it!

Onto the good stuff (don't worry, all pictures have metadata removed. Let me know if I should resize them smaller. I usually keep one side 480px depending on orientation):

Bagseed of various medical I've been saving for years (a little over 100):

Beginning to prepare with the 5x5 tent and two 600w mars hydro LEDs:

I know I don't need the filter yet, but it was how I cleared the (8") ducting from the floor:

Fan controls. Intake is connected to hvac duct:

Attempting germination (planted over 100, but only got 6! I don't know what I did wrong or what went wrong here)

3 days after first sprout (today, and I'm about to transplant them into my dixie cups right now. Update with that sometime today)

Now hit me with it

After transplanting I was able to use my pH meter and it's an even 6.0.

The top left one hasnt dropped its seed yet:

Hello, nice setup. Just my 2 cents. You can save some electricity by turning off the 2x600 watt monsters and simply using a couple of 10 Watt 6000K LED Spotlights from WalMart, Home Depot etc. 1200 watts is total overkill on seedlings and might even fry them if too close. IMHO, 2 or 3 - 10 watt LEDs will be enough for the next 3 weeks - month.
The 6000K color will prevent stretching and contribute to shorter inter-nodal distances.
Best of luck &
Peace

Unfortunately I'll have to wait until next Thursday as this week's check has already been absorbed by bills. I appreciate that very much and is on the todo list. I've read between 18-24 inches for seedlings. Should I raise higher? I'm a little over 18 at the moment

Heat isn't a problem both fans are running 24/7 just for minor circulation and the tent is staying steady around 70-75 degrees f. I have a small weather station mounted near the exhaust

EDIT:
Thank u for the compliment

Alright I'm taking one down right now. Thank you so much for that. Here's the weather station:

Ignore the temp range as I'm letting the house get a little warm today.

So far they've responded well to their transplant. Caught it just in time, the tap root had just begun to emerge out of the bottom of each egg carton (I punched holes in the bottom of each). That was the main reason I wanted to go ahead and get them in their cups so they wouldn't get stunted.

Sorry for the lighting, I'm going to upgrade the tent a little with some regular lighting for picture taking and those led spotlights thursday along with a few other things.

In a very similar situation. Same tent and fans it looks like! Will begin germination process in about ten days. Excited to see this as I get my first going as well. Good luck!

Your little 2 way ventilation coupler looks like its blowing m&m's through the ducting lmao. Looking nicely prepped for a 1st grow, keep on! Might want to mount that weather station in the room for an actual humidity reading.

Got an update! They've been doing well so far, although two have a slight browning on the tips. Not sure why, but my 1 gallon smart pots will be here monday and ill be transplanting to those so I hope that helps. It has been there since transplanting and hasn't spread so I'm hoping it just shocked it a little?

Anyway, the others are growing great. Here they are:

EDIT:
One of my plants is a different shade of green and this picture highlights it perfectly. Looks healthy, is it not?

Congratulations . Glad to hear you're going the same route I am, it's about the only way to have reliable smoke in my area. Link me to your grow journal if you start one.

Thank you I was running low on duct tape :D found the splitter on amazon its a thin 8" y and worked perfectly. I wanted to have all 4 intake/exhaust ports pulling/pushing air evenly since I have 2 fans so I purchased two y's. The weather station is mounted at the top, let me know if this is no good:

EDIT:
I love your sig. I pray for half that :bigjoint:

Put it in the room, mid way up the wall. If you put that thing in a wind tunnel it will be reading low RH all the time. It will also give you a more accurate "in room" ambient temp. If temps higher inside then outside, then go with bigger diameter ducts.

Pretty simple solution to that, I clipped it directly to my planter box. Thank you. I have 8" ducting all the way through to the filter so I don't think I can go bigger
