First Grow Advice Needed

Hi Everyone,
This being my first post, a little introduction is probably in order. I’m an old fart who has never smoked, touched or even seen cannabis. (apart from online) let alone grow it. However, my intention is to grow plants for making oil and crème for medicinal purposes. Mainly insomnia and skin cancer.
I’ve done a bit of research and this is what I’ve come up with. I intend to grow 1 plant at a time in an 80x80x180 tent. (that size may be able to cater for more than one plant but I’m not sure.) Growing medium is Coco. Mars Hydro TS 1000 LED light. Starting seed in Jiffy Pellet, then transplanting to a 1 gallon fabric grow pot and finally to an 8 gallon fabric grow pot.
Not sure how I’ll go with it, but I’m also going to have a crack at main-lining in the hope of increasing the yield. Having said that, there are a number of areas where I am completely confused and could easily end up in more trouble than the early settlers.
One area of concern is odour. I am considering using ONA inside the tent. I have read that using ONA inside the tent will transfer the scent of the ONA to the buds and will contaminate the taste of the cannabis. As I intend to make oil from the buds and not smoke it, will ONA reduce the THC strength of the buds?
Thank you.

Hey man welcome to RIU

What is ONA

Most of us get rid of odor by using a carbon filter attached to an inline fan exhausting hot air from the grow tent.

Depending on how many plants you grow will determine how effective ONA is. I used it once and it did an ok job, but the more plants I grew the less effective it was.

Thanks for the welcome. I will be growing one plant only and using a carbon filter in the tent but I thought using ONA as well might be an added precaution as long as it didn't alter the THC of the plant.

I don't think it would alter the plant in any way but if you're going to use a carbon filter you may not need it. Are you going to exhaust out a window? Or recirculate in your house?

If exhausting out a window you could put the ONA in your exhaust ducting to treat your exhaust. If you're recirculating then the ONA would do the same thing outside the tent in the same room.

I'm actually going to put the exhaust tube through the ceiling into the roof space. I hope you think that's ok because I've already cut a bloody hole in the ceiling.:) The idea with ONA was to as much of the odour cleaned up before it left the tent.

It would be better to go out a window. I know venting into an attic is a big no-no but that’s not really my area of expertise.

Worry about ONA when you get there. It wouldn't hurt to place some of these containers outside the grow room if you have extra cash to spend.

I don't have a window in this room. I have nowhere else to grow it. I actually thought it would be the perfect place. Why is it a no-no to vent into a roof space?

I planned on using an oscillating fan in the tent. Intake fresh air fan and carbon filter and exhaust fan.

I believe the warm humid air from your grow room could cause mold and roof rot in your attic
Bathroom exhaust fans are ducted outside and not into attics by the building code for this reason

OK. Never thought of that. I'll have to see if I can come up with some alternative. I hadn't planned on consulting the building inspector. :)
I might have to see about a whirly-gig that expels hot air from the roof space.

I have 4 bathroom exhaust fans that are ducted into the roof space and it's all quite legal.
maybe just depends where you are or how vented your roof space is. idk its not my area of expertise i'm just repeating what i've read here and other places. you can go through the attic to outside but they shouldn't terminate in the attic.

you might be fine just something to consider
