First Grow - Adopted Plant

Hi all, I am new to growing and I sort of got jump-started and need a little advice. Here's my tale:

I got my medical certificate about two months ago and just lately decided that I'd like to grow my own. So I did tons of research. My preference is to set up a hydro system and that has been my focus. I have my reservoir, my pots, my nutes, my medium, and I just built my room. I am getting ready to buy lights, meters, etc.

Okay, so I have a plan and I'm on a mission toward my hydro system. In the meantime I get a phone call. As it turns out, a cousin of a friend of my son's ex-wife's boyfriend (really, I can't make that shit up), got arrested for dui and had to go to jail for 30 days. At his house, he had a little plant that just went into 12/12 about 3 days before. So for his one phone call, instead of trying to find bail, this guy calls his girlfriend and tells her to find someone to buy the plant and set up.

Long story short, I ended up with a small, rather healthy looking little girl, planted in soil, with about 15 bud sites showing little flowers, a bottle of unknown nutes (I think it's miracle grow), and a 24W CFL on a clip.

So, not knowing what else to do with her, I put her in the 5x5 room (formerly the garden tub in my master bath) that I just got built for my new hydro system, clipped her light onto a TV tray and set the timer for her 12/12 cycle. I have a thermostat in the room to monitor temp, and a small 3-speed fan to circulate air.

I don't mind having her there because I don't have the money to finish setting up my hydro system the way I want it yet anyway, but the thing is, all my study and research and etc has been into growing via hydro. I don't know the first thing about growing in soil!

Soil is dirt. I'm a girl. I don't do dirt.

Any suggestions or things I haven't thought of or need to be looking for? I have no idea of her origin but I suspect she's probably bag seed. Not to say I ain't gonna smoke her up when she's done, but I have much purer strains in mind for my first real grow.

I forgot to mention that I have her on a quart of water every 3 days (making sure she's ready by sticking my finger 2 inches into the soil), with 4 Tbsp of nutes every other feeding.

Sound about right? When should I stop the nutes? Any clues when she might be ready? I'm thinking I'm might be toking my first buds right after Thanksgiving dinner... (Giving two weeks for drying and curing)

I need an opinion, please. Should this girl be in a bigger pot? She has a few leaves that are getting some spots and a few that are turning yellow/brown on the edges. I don't know what's wrong. I've checked her pH and I've been giving her a quart of water about every three days (when she is sufficiently dry) I give her 4T of Miracle Gro with every other watering.

Any advice? She is on day 18 of flowering. Sorry for the dark pictures, my camera is crap. Believe me when I say that the lights are much better than they appear... :blsmoke:

Thanks GhostDog, I actually upgraded my lights to 8x 42w 2700k bulbs so she's doing lots better than she was when I got her, but I'm concerned that she might be getting rootbound. Is there anyway to find out without actually tipping her out of her pot? I don't want to mess with her if she's doing okay, but I don't want to ignore her either if she needs a bigger pot.

So should I switch to something else? Will I shock her if I switch her nutes in the third week of flowering? Or should I just cut them back? I still wonder if she needs to be repotted but I don't want to harm her...

she's already flowering so dont want to transplant.....the pot does seem small but the plant isnt that big either so you should be fine, most root growth takes place in the veg.....as far as nutes miracle grow works, you just wanna be careful with it as it may burn your plants easily..switching nutes will not harm the plants...personally i would pick up some organic plant food for blooming from a garden supply....good luck

Well, my tiny little girl is starting her 4th week of flowering. She is so tiny but I didn't have anything to do with her pre-flower life as I got her on day 3 of flowering. But even though she's little, she's given me some pretty pictures to look at. Thought I'd share. Not sure exactly what's going on with her leaves turning up like that...
