First Grow...A Couple Questions

What? No!
Never start off in a half-filled pot. Always use a full pot when planting a seedling. That way the root ball will grow out properly, and the leaves of the plant are actually above the rim of the pot. Once the roots fill in, transplant to their final pot.
Where are these crazy ideas coming from? Fill a pot only half full. Sheesh.

I'm no expert, but I'm a solid grower IMO. There has been nothing but absurd crap here in the auto fourms alone for quite some time. Doesn't make me even want to read/talk much and the few guys that i believe are truly knowledgeable don't even come here anymore which makes it worse.

Just let them do their thing since you should close to the time they ready to throw pistils. They sex fast and will move to preflower stretch .... THEN you can adjust branches ( lst ) to finalize shape. DO NOT DEFOL or TOP at this time. You screw the natural course of preflower is just asking for a stunted plant. No 2 plants run the same , some lag a little , some even end up looking different even from same batch.

I was doing a LST session every other day or so, which started when the plants were 21 days old.
The right plants is in flower now so I'd leave it be regardless. But the left plant is still early on and could use a little more training, but as mentioned the growth is particularly crazy with branches everywhere and difficult to work with. So besides leaf tucking I'm just going to leave them both be now and do nothing but feed/water until harvest.

Your girls are looking good. You have to take in what you read here and kinda shift thru it. There is a lot of shit talk on here. One just needs to read a lot of threads and you will find the golden nuggets of useful info from some of us who have been doing this for years and years and years. If you are truely driven you will succeed. 
Next time start in those red plastic cups. That way the plant can develop a decent root system. Once about 12 inches then you transplant into a 1 gallon pot. Let that fill in and finally into a 3 gallon pot.
My friend Mr. Greengenes suggested this and it really works. I seriously doubt there is anyone on this forum with an equivalent amount of experience.
