This is my first time at this, I'm trying to take this hobby seriously but only have so much time and limited money but decent resources (friends + what I have acquired). I've had these plants for 45 days now, started them from seed. They are 6 Hindu kush and one bagseed from friend. They vary from 8"-12 tall. They are starting to smell a little bit and I am very interested in finding out the sex. My plan is to get a couple good mothers and clone like crazy to plant outdoors this spring. I am pretty sure I have the space to set up a flower area but I don't know how to go about it yet. I should be ready to clone now or soon right ? This is partly why I am writing this in a new thread... I've come this far from reading on the internet pretty much lol so help me if you can, I'll take what I can get but I'll do my due diligence obviously too with my limited time (late nights right now but I hope it will be worth it!)
Some mistakes I know i have made are giving nutrients too early and too much probably, I killed some saplings after one week the first, first time around. The 7 I have going strong still do have some problems, I am pretty sure my nutrient cocktails have something to do with it. I thought mixing a lil bit of this and a lil bit of that would only help, I honestly was only doing 1/4 - 1/2 strength but probably using too many different products making the overall concoction too potent.
On pretty much each plant there is at least 1 - 4 leaves like this. I have cut some off that were worse. I topped 3 of them just to learn what happens, some people are telling me that I did it too early and should have waited longer.. I dunno, I guess it's all apart of trying and seeing at this point. I really want to figure out why my leaves are like this - leaning towards, heat from light, nutrient OD, poor drainage .... I really wanna figure this out and have healthier plants...
Most of the plants are quite bushy and of decent size but i have 2 runts. I probably did something stupid and fucked these guys up, one looks like a mutant, whats going on with this thing, should I just pull it or try to improve its condition?
Temperature 69-75F consistently
72F at canopy - stating this because people most people think leaves are under heat stress??? There is a heat coming in via a duct i brought in, basement is super cold without it, its hooked up to the furnace and house thermostat.
light 1000w switchable ballast - currently on 600w setting
24" away from canopy
under "U" shaped reflector - no cool tube
I have 2 shop lights that I am using for the seedlings, I was hoping to keep using these for seedlings/clones. I have 4 phillips 6500 T12 bulbs in them. Could i potentially maybe get 2 more shop lights like this for the mothers?
I have a 4"200CFM inline fan, a computer fan and a house fan (i think it will be too strong once I split the rooms) ... need to figure out how to move air in 2-3 areas... There is a window to the outside (it is middle of winter here, 10C outside)
Soil pH 6-6.5 ...(i only have a digital soil pH tester right now... I use it in the water before I feed them and it does give me a reading... but its not meant for liquid i don't think tho)
I used promix and it said it was ready to go straight from the bag. I have the plants in 2 gallon pots with plenty of holes in the bottom. When I water there is a TINY bit of runoff but not much and it takes about 1 week before the moisture meter says its ready for most water. I want to eventually transplant only the female plants into 5 gallon pots, I was thinking of mixing more perlite in the soil when i transplant.
These are the only nutrients I have bought or acquired some how... I don't really have the money to buy any more right now, hopefully I can just use these.. but properly, any suggestions on what I should use here would be appreciated.
The room dimensions are 9'Lx9'Wx6.5'H. Really need ideas on how to split this space up, need to do it soon. This is how it looks right now. I have one window you see in the picture but its covered by the light blocking plastic right now. The space is 2'x2' but i can only open it half way so 1x2... IF I REALLY wanted to i could take out whole window... don't want it too look too fishy though, its in the basement and I do have a neighbor.
I have plenty of the room darkening plastic... i was going to split the 9x9 room in half.. is this the best bet ? and get new shops lights or cfls for veg room and take the 1000w to the flower room (should be closer to window because of smell im thinking - Charcoal filter to outside or something like that? I should be taking cutting from each plant and flower them to see the sex right ?
Help, or i'm just gonna keep reading + making it up as I go lol
