Are there any tips for mixing dolomite in after the fact? I top dressed with some soil mixed with dolomite pellets. I'm too cheap to get a pH meter but figured if I had any pH issues that this should take care of it. I doubt I do have a pH issue as my water is fairly hard. (I tested it with a drop test pH kit and it said around 7.5 for the tap water)

I'm using CaMg additive with my feedings as well...
my tap water is about 7.0 and i think my soil PH is below 6.0

*from what i have read* the soil just buffers anything you put into it (water, nutes, PH up, Ph down) til it is same PH as soil, cant really change it much with just waterings have to add the lime or whatever it is you add to get it to go down.

lime is a akaline is it not?

so isnt dish soap, wonder if dawn works the same as lime....hmmm

Edit: yup just tested the dish soap its a PH of about 11 so im wondering if a small amount of dish soap would buffer your soil the same as the lime.

wonder if this is where "soap dope" comes from

Haha, soap dope, your funny dude! Ottawa, my guess would be put the lime on your topsoil and water it in?
Yup that's what I did. top-dressed with a soil/dolomite mixture and then I watered. I don't think I have a pH issue (at least I hope I don't) but just in case. Also dolomite is CaMg(CO3)2 so it will give both Ca and Mg to the plant. I'll be pre-mixing it into to all my future soil-less mixes.

@Matt, yeah I've heard on the board in a couple of places about people adding a drop or two of dishsoap to their waterings. maybe this is why.. this could have been in reference to some hydro grows as well, I can't rightly remember... but it makes sense.

it acts as a wetting agent and helps with compacted soil. "surfactants (detergents) make water wetter & allow it to "seep" or flow into all the tiny places much more readily. It also tends to negate the effect of how Fe-containing molecules form on organic surfaces, which turns soils hydrophobic (water-repellent) as they dry to below about 30% moisture content."

would adding a couple drops for PH increase work? and if it does will it make the weed taste like shit? i mean im not willing to flush out dish soap as it will be a pain in the ass.

nvm, imma just go buy some dam lime lol

Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts. away for the holidays. Merry Christmas.. we had a blast at a cottage we rented for a week and had an amazing country Christmas.

I was nervous to leave the girls alone for a week without supervision.. but good news!! they are both girls!! (the big ones anyway)... i moved the small plants into my flowering tent and unfortunately they have stretched a lot so I've topped them.

I'll be posting some photos soon.. what a difference!! I'm running out of room!

Here are the girls on December 22nd (taken with my blackberry, sorry for the bad quality)

And here they are today! Unfortunately the two small ones that I threw into flower WAAY too soon stretched quite a bit (I was in a hurry to get on the road, should've lifted them up. :(

Best news is that I'm seeing white hairs all over both of the large plants!!

Didn't get any really good pics but you can see the pistils in these two shots:

PS: I topped the two smaller plants and placed them on a box to prevent any further stretch.. one constellation is that I had a fan on them the whole time so they have a nice solid stem..

they arent that stretched and stretch is more of a seedling issue than anything IMO, i mean yeah if you ignore it throughout the entire plants life its gonna look like shit but those lil ones are fine imo, now that you topped they will bush out a bit and them side branches should reach up :)

its actually nice going away for a week then coming back because you can actually see a significant change opposed to looking at them a couple times a day every day. usually when im home only time i notice change is from overnight but then again i look at them like 200 times a day lol, im a proud dad :)

Yeah for sure.. I'm trying to ignore them more now.. seeing as how they seemed to do so well with no intervention for 7 days. I might not even look at them at all today! :D

Unless I find them time to take some cuttings today :hump:

I know.. and I went down today and messed with them..

took two cuttings.. first time cloning.. hopefully they take. I've just got them in some peat mixture with a tiny bit of nutrients that I mixed in at the base of the pot

I've got the cuttings under my 250W MH but I'm going to rig up some CFL fixtures instead so I don't waste electricity.

@Matt.. you'll also like that I've planted some Basil and Arugula Forgot to label the planters though as I was in a rush to head out for an appointment :( Should be evident once they start to establish.

sweet, thats what im talking about, hell if your using the electricity already and have a room setup why the hell not grow other plants that are consumable. veggies/herbs :)

Happy 2012 to all who are following my little grow.

Bad News: I smoked the remainder of my stash in celebration of the new year. I have literally some crumbs left in a mason jar.

Good News: I'm less than 6 weeks away from some smokeable homegrown!
