Hello people,
first time grower, currently growing 3 feminized seeds (Royal Queen Seeds - Special Kush #1) under 2 85w 6400k and 1 250w 2400k CFL lights. Medium = Coco coir with perlite. Light cycle = 18/6. PHing around 6.0. Not using calimagic.

Using the nutrients and schedule pictured.

Was wondering if these look small, also a couple of leaves seem to be yellowing and a little "burnt"? looking on the tips. Also 1 leaf has a sly brown circle bastard and the bottom yellowing leaves have vein that are little brown near the stem. They don't seem to be getting worse or anything...obviously just a little concerned. I think maybe I should have a more structured watering programme as upto now I've watered different amounts at various times. Every other watering I've just been using PHed tap water, rather than nutes the whole time.

Any advice, tips or ninja skills would be much appreciated.

Nice one.

These little buddies are looking cute. Size wise they are doing okay for soil. The burn can be from the soil being too hot for seedlings... I use soil made for seedlings that has no nutrients in it. Don't use any nutrients for the next two waterings and let the water stand for a couple days to let the chlorine burn off. Have fun and welcome to RIU!

Yes they are a quite small for their age.. The burnt tips and yellowing is nute burn.. plant don't need to be fed for two weeks after they emerge.. I don't grow in coco but if in soil I would use water and skip feeding for a couple days then
use half of what your schedule says..

I disagree.

Yes he does have some nute burn, he is over feeding.

The main issue looks like a cal/mag deficiency.

He is in coco.

Get some cal mag ASAP or your plants WILL DIE!

Cheers Final Phase.

Okay, nice one guys. I'll chill on the nutes and grab some cal mag tomorrow.

I was thinking they looked like some small little punks. Ah well, it's a learning experience innit.

Exactly right! We learn by mistakes.. Too much to soon will lockout all nutrient uptake and cause all kinds of
problems.. Remember nute manufacturers like to sell nutes..I use about 60% of their recommended strength..

Just a thought, but since he is growing with those nutes, he should get a root builder / enzymes to go with the nutes after the cal mag?

Hi guys,

So I followed the advice and only PHd watered with no nutes and added calmag. They were doing good and seemed to have a growth spurt but now there's something going on.... The leaves seem to be curling up, and 2 bottom leaves have kinda died and bent up on themselves on one plant.

Not sure of this root builder / enzymes Scoobs is talking about?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

**The four yellower looking pictures were taken under a light whilst the greener just flash from camera. They are pretty much the same colour

Well, you planted those in awfully big pots and they don't probably don't like the pH of the soil as well as your nutes. Youve put yourself in a hole. I would have mixed some dry organic fertilizer into the mix and skipped out on liquid nutes. The plants don't need much right now but by the looks of them, they are at the age where nutes are necessary. I'd wait to feed again and give them some cal mag in the mean time. Couldn't hurt.Top the mix with some dry fertilizer and let that do its thing for a while.
