First Grow, 10 Plants

Hello everyone! This is my first grow so its kind of been trail and error. I bought 4 seeds from attitude, but in the end I chose to buy some clones because of the time they save. These are my plants:

2 Afghan Haze
3 Banana Kush
2 Pineapple Express
2 Strawberry Diesel
1 Bubba Kush x Abusive OG

For the Veg stage I'll be using two T-5 lights. One 4 tube light and one 6 tube light. I'll be running them on a 18 hours on/ 6 hours off. Here are the lights:

For the soil I'm using FoxFarm Ocean Forest with FoxFarm Grow Big. I'm starting out by planting all the clones in 5 gallon pots.

Here's a picture of the plants when I first got them. These pictures are missing the two Pineapple Expresses and one Banana Kush.

Here are the lights for the initial set up in my room. Pretty ghetto, I know,

I plan on eventually moving these plants to my shed. The lights are super bright in my room.

So I finally made the move to the shed. I bought an air conditioner from Walmart for $100. It claims to be big enough for a 100 square foot area. I'm going to run an air duct for the exhaust from the air conditioner to a vent at the top of the shed. Heres the shed with one of the lights before I put the plants in.

After I got high I got an idea to keep the plant cool. I surrounded the plants in a Styrofoam box with a hole for the air conditioner to blow into. The temps are in the 80s for the most part. At the hottest parts of the day the temp by the plants will reach the lower 90s.

16 Days into the grow, Day 1 of Flowering!

The ladies are all over 1 ft now and very bushy. Today will be they're first day of flowering. last time I watered them I used FoxFarm Big Bloom. Next time I water I plan to start using FoxFarm Tiger Bloom. Here are my nutrients.

I'm using a 400 watt High Pressure Sodium light. I had to build a wooden frame to hang the light by because its so heavy. With the new set up the temps have really dropped. I thought the HPS was suppose to be hot? Anyways, the temps range from 65 in the morning to 75 in the afternoon. PERFECT temps!!!!

usually one starts sooner than you, but it can still be done. notice your main stem shootin straight up with little branches growin out. well to top you cut your main stem just above a set of nodes. makeing your girl grow out 2 main stems out of the 2 lower nodes under your cut. i know my answer is not textbook but ther is way more in fo in this forum about this topic than i can give you. but i hope i pointed you in the right direction good luck and happy green grows!

ventilation never hurts :)

They do look great. I'm glad you went with the HPS ..I was worried you weren't gonna get the penetration needed for such tall boys. They're gonna stretch like a motha in those big ass pots. Looks like you had some nute burn early on but they seem good now. That OF can be strong stuff. I used to mix it down with perlite and some other stuff that I don't remember back when I grew w/ soil. Best to be conservative with the other nutes at first unless you've used them before or have really good drainage.

thanks for sharing :peace:

Thanks guys for the compliments!

I'll definitely try topping them for my next grow. A few of the ladies could have used it.

true what dude said. with my inexperiance i have lost a lot of clones due to underestimating FF OF plis some overwatering.. +rep dude OF almost needs to be mixed in with a bit o perlite ecpecially for the youngns!

Thanks brotha

Come to think of it, that other stuff I couldn't remember - i now remember - was FF Light Warrior. Works great with the youngins'. I think I only ended up with like 40% OF by volume in my final mix ...give or take. Weed seems to really like drying out well between waterings, IMHO.. It's the same with other cactus type plants, agave, aloe, a lot of my house plants, etc. PLus, if you CAN burn your plants, you WILL burn them in heavy soil and by then the damage is done. I think this philosophy kind of led me to ebb-n-flow hydro :weed:

The leafs weren't burnt from the nutes I gave them (I think). When I originally bought the clones some of the leafs were damaged. I think it was a nutrients deficiency, but after a week or so under my care they bounced back well.

I am a bit worried about the stretch I'm gonna get. I worried I won't have enough room. The tops of the plants are probably 3 ft off the ground and I only have and my roof is 7 ft tall. I know I need at least 1 ft in between the tops of the plants and the HPS light so that means the plants can only grow about about 2ft before I'm out of room. I guess its not that bad of a problem to have.

Thanks for the comments!!!

Good looking plants, I'll sub up. bongsmilie I use the fox farm line pretty religiously. It is what I learned with, and I guess I have just never really tried anything else....yet. What was said above is def true. On my current grow Im using a 50/50 mix of OF and light warrior. Also added in some extra perlite (10%ish?). I am definitely liking the results. Much like everyone else, I have accidentally burned plants with straight OF in the past.

But yeah, excited to see your babies flower out! Good luck!

yah foxfarm has great products i use there whole line, all 9 nutes on the hydro feeding schedule..LoL i use it with awesome results!! i just thought you should know that you can top until the first week in flowering.. if your going to fim then you should start in veg but if its just topping then the first week in flower is fine for an extra cola!!

From the pics alone I'd say they look ok as far as stretch. With your temps so low you should be able to get pretty close to the light if needed, especially if you throw in a fan. But I don't think you'll really need to.

The plants are doing great. Watered them today and gave them their first taste of Tiger Bloom. My tallest plant is 26" tall and my shortest is 13".
