First Ever Indoor/Outdoor Grow, CFL, Journal

Hello Fellow Growers!

Summary:
Due to the amazing NW Indiana climate i am starting my first indoor plants before transferring them to the outdoors when the weather becomes more stable. There are currently 6 plants under the setup, i am using 50/50 odds of female. I would be more than happy to grow 3 female monsters. :blsmoke: I am aware of the lack of light, please keep in mind these plants will only be indoors for a short period before going into the sun.

Supplies:
Humidifier
6 seed starter pots
Starter soil (Unknown, included with pots)
2 26w Daylight CFL
1 13w Soft White CFL

Strains:
Bagseed

I collected seeds from my favorite stashes over the past months. I have a preference of sativa dominant bud, therefore i am assuming the seeds are mainly sativa (hopefully).

I will be updating the pictures and information every few days depending on the growth. So far the seeds have been more than amazing for me, fast germination, extremely fast sprout, and growth!

Hope you tag along for my first grow experience, i am open to any feedback.

Day 2 after planting germinated seed:

Day 2.jpg

Smaller bulb was not yet added, sprouted extremely fast although a seventh plant sprouted and died almost immediately for an unknown reason. After tearing up, i suspected root rot.

Day 3

Look at the amazing growth that has taken place 24hrs since the last picture. Couldn't be happier with the 6 plants at this point. (Seventh plant was tossed after this picture was taken, my mistake). For reference the plant that was tossed was the far back plant, shriveled up and turned black.

Day 4-5

Plants appear the be forming what i see a second set of leaves? Not sure how to classify what is the first/second pair.

Note: Lights are of a 24/0 schedule. Over time i intend to lower this to 18/6 before i transfer outdoor. I also plan to invest in a fan for better ventilation. Current temp is around a steady 85-90 with 50% humidity. They seem to be doing fine with the high temp!

grower, i like it buddy - im also subbed now too ;) your lights are good , plants look healthy .. soil i found out is HUGE tho. you need to have good soil. right from the get go, im on my second grow and have learned the hard way both times now. you wanna make sure u have some perlite in the soil ( its those little white spots u always see ) and probably wanna figure out whats in your soil in general, nutrients or anything at all . but if its pottin soil, u should be good for another 2 weeks before all those nutrients disappear (Esp . if its shitty soil ) i use soil that has absolutley nothing in it but perlite.. im forced to use my own nutrients . ( next time will be different )

next up , ur plants doo look 95% healthy for the most part, i do notice a little bit of yellowing on some of the tips ( this could be nitrogen, or various other things that soil may be lacking ) ... but you dont wanna go adding nutes, u saw wat happened with me LOL . just ride it out for a little, i would figure out a nice soil u wanna indulge in, get 6 pots or grow bags that are about 2-3 times the size, and transplant on week 3 some time ;)

lastly. the new set of leaves or new growth, i believe are classified as "nodes" . its every incriment you see a new set, or a little notch in the main stem. the trick is to have ur nodes nice and close together, if u have them really spaced out - that means ur plant is doing lots of stretching. i think 24/0 is good... i used this my first grow and it seemed to of worked great, im now using 18/6 on my current one.. and ive heard good things about both. also ur temps and humidity seem to be good, if possible. u mentioned a fan , get some circulation going, and ur temps will drop a little. i think people say 79 is optimal... but is no where near necessary.. ive had my box up to like 94 degrees and she was great still ;)

cheers mate .. ill be around

ps. make sure those lights are super close to avoid that stretching ( it looks like ur doing pretty good ) i say an inch above the plants MAX

The root rot you were talking about earlier was probably whats called damping off. Usually attributed to...well being too damp :) like luigi said the soil is going to be an issue but youll probably be transplanting soon enough to somthing with better drainage. I know your in those evil bastard little peat pots but dont even think about just droppin those into the next container and waiting for the roots to try and ninja kick their way through that cardboard crap. Im hoping that they work out well for ya but you got to remember that those seeds came from plants that may have tendencies to hermaphrodite since there was seeds in them. Just make sure that you keep an eye on them when they start to flower. Also get that temp gauge right under that light for a couple minutes to see what your real temp is if you havent already done that. And when they start growing bigger dont get your heart set on the biggest ones. Usually the strongest ones end up being the males, just sayin. Lookin good so far though. Dont over water them and stunt them and this should be a great grow :):):)

Honestly if you two are the only ones who follow this will be more than happy with the amount of useful input you attribute!

Basically as you may have already read i am only starting these indoors, was only planned to be for a week, but it looks like it may be another week or two. The weather was in the high 70's here and now it is high 30's...Indiana... It appears there is 1-2 plants that have stretched pretty good, i try to bend their stems slightly to induce strong stems. MY temp is always high always 90 basically, but they seem to love it?

As for watering, i water when needed i am not on a schedule because i do a few things that attribute. I have a humidifier in the drawer that i use once daily that spikes the humidity up to 60%+. I believe this will help them adjust the the high humidity when they reach outdoors, plus it helps keep the soil moist!

I only see one plant showing signs of some "white" tips? They really do not look yellow but it seems to be getting better.

Here are some pics! As you will see they are all at the same stage really, and all growing a new set of leaves 'node"!

Oh and about the potting!

There is noway i planned to just drop these babies in the ground in these pots! I will be putting them in a decent sized put before being transplanted into either the ground, or their final bucket. I am not a huge fan of this soil, although it does seem to drain really well.

hahaha cheers buddy , ill be here :) ya i read your just starting indoors, im doing my first outdoor grow this season as well starting may ish. but yea for pots wise at least a transplant in about 2 weeks or so with some new soil. it may drain well now, but what are u need is all sorts of nutrients in the soil ( trust me lmao ) it becomes a real bitch when u have like 4 defieciencies at once LOL. but yea ofcourse u have to make do with what you have ;) just sorta recomending :) i wouldnt start bending your stems just yet, it might cause unecessary stretching ( it looks it kinda has already ) as long as u have a little breeze on them at all times, and keep the lights nice and close youll be great for sturdy plants, then u can start training them after 2 weeks or so :) ur temp is okay in low 90s its not to worry about... but the only thing i would worry about , is when u do pop them out side... is the temps out there gunna be like low 60s or wat? cause thats a huge difference and may stress your plants a little bit. humidity at this stage is no problem at 60% i think aswell, u maybe want to get it below 50 , but if u can. i wouldnt worry to much. just try not to kill it on the temps and humidity, but the marijuana plant is a very strong thing.

for watering, no schedule is good, water when it needs it , when it feels empty and light as a feather. :) cheers brother

They look good bro. Ah dont worry about when they go outside so much. With those lights youll be fine for at least another two weeks. Just make sure you dont just slap em out there. I always like to slowly break them into the outdoor climate. Veggies that is but its the same all around. Ill take my starts out for the hot part of the day and then out a little earlier in the day when its cooler, and then after like four or five days of teasing them i leave them out all night and they stay there foreva. :):):)
