First ever grow Northern Lights#5

i will be watching this because i know someone with the exact same set up except with LED lights, doing it for the first time, at almost the same stage of growth.

One thing person has already learned they made a mistake with:

1- you're supposed to pre-rinse the clay balls because they make the water all dirty with red stuff. why the hell aren't they pre-rinsed.
2- check your ph every couple days in the beginning. most likely a week with the same water the ph will start to creep up. not that bad at first, but when they're eating nutrients it will stunt growth. you should buy some ph down if you haven't already.
3- start out about 1/4 level of nutrients, then 1/2, then full strength over the the next month, and thats starting from the first level.
4- remember, the water level is at the 2 gallon mark, so the nutrient chart sizes ( the teaspoons ) sizes need to be doubled in order for it to be full strength.
5- those tabs that hold the airstone are very fragile ( one broke! )
6- its easier to empty the reservoir if you put the whole thing on some kind of raised platform

it will be cool that this person and you will be harvesting around the same time

Made my flowering room today, its not 100% secure but the blanket blocks a majority of the light in/out. i added a HPS halogen light? its only 70 watts but it makes a better spectrum with the florescent. still waiting on my ballast and fixture for a 400 watt HPS, all plants have recovered from the recent nute burn, leaves are looking fine

i upgraded the lights to a mix of t-12 gro-lux and t-12 soft white 3000k bulbs 2 of each under 2 hoods, i hope this lighting will be enough to flower out my plants. all the plants are now standing up straight again thanks to sum toothpicks and yarn. ill post pics later tonight

Week 3 of flowering is coming to a close and i have finally seen a female showing off her white hairs, one plant seems to be turning male nothing definitive at this point but as for the plant that was in the glass cup, it passed away...tried to take some clones but im afraid they didnt make it. But as for the female ITS HUGE! the biggest plant i have for sure ill put pics up later tonight or tomorrow. the fem is the last pic on the 2nd row.

hell yeah! good to hear! something about emilys garden is awesome because all fems so far over here. white hairs been showing a couple days now and really starting to grow!

the full flowering nutes were used after flowering showed ( 1/2/3 ) but that was actually too much and 2/2/2 seems to be going better

bending down isn't too bad, or slight curling of the edges. when things start turning color its really bad!

she's looking great... I might hit you up soon with some clone questions, as I think I'm gonna try to cut a few in a couple weeks. Are you sure the mother has enough room to grow vertically for the flowering? looks like you have a good amount of space for the buds to fill in! :weed:
