First DWC try

Just know that a single bucket DWC is a headache waiting to happen. Once it gets big, it drink the water down in a single day and adding it daily sucks. I'd highly recommend just adding a 17gal HDX tote to all 4 buckets connecting them. You need more water volume.

My buddy told me the same thing a year ago!! I just wanna get my feet wet and see how it goes and build from there, cant be much worse adding water to a single bucket than dealing with soil, sometimes thats a royal pain in the a$#

This is system i bought, just have to drill tote and connect with tees? Also would you use anything to recirculate water? Please keep in mind this is unchartered territory for me folks!

airwalker is right about more water volume being easier to maintain pH and EC.
but at the same time you are right too. starting off with a single bucket is easier than trying to deal with 4 plants in a rdwc i think. you will have all the same problems you'll have to deal with so it's good practice for the 2nd grow.

if you do it right, you'll have enough off the single bucket harvest to last you until the 4 site harvest. when you get halfway thru the single bucket bloom start 4 plants for the next round and you'll be ready to go.

Those were stand alone but could be made to accept a control bucket pretty easily
if you do decide to connect them all, i would recommend connecting them from the bottom, not the side. although you could drill some holes and use uniseals on the side, a rounded wall is just asking for a leak eventually. and if you put connect on the bottom, you can add a drain and the whole system will drain vs leaving some left behind .

just some thoughts for the future when you see how hydro is superior to dirt

I sure hope hydro is superior to dirt! Im tired of buying soil, rootbound issues, and fuckin critters that like to hide in soil!!
