So this is my first diy DWC setup. im looking for any advice pertaining to the equipment used and if this is a sufficient setup. I will be atempting to put between 10-15 2inch holes in the top for cloning purpose's, and 1-2 net pots for my firstDWC micro grow(still in the air about the two net pots). i am usiing two 8 inch airstones ran by a dual outlet 20-60gal. pump. I also am runing 2 round airstone balls ran by an old pump i had kicking around the house. this is all housed in a 20 quart rubbermaid tote. any advice or suggestions will be greatly apreciated. i am sick of spending a small fortune on ganja and i would like this to be a succesful attemt at DWC.

You aren't far off because they overlap in confusing ways. The term DWC has come to mean many things, both passive and active systems have lots of variations. Bubbleponics gets used as if it meant anything with bubbles but unlike DWC it is a trademarked proprietary name referring to a system that is fundamentally DWC in a 10 gal tote but adds a submersible pump and feeder tubes.

As for your post I couldn't figure out what all those holes are for? Is this just a system to root clones? Do you plan to grow plants to maturity in it? Are you using a water pump and feeder tubes? Explain further please.

thanx for the reply illegal smile. and yes this is just a system for rooting clones. If this system works well i am going to try and make another system for maturing plants. i was thinking of attempting the S.O.G method on a small scale with another tote.(im experimenting ) Now for the feeder tubes, i am not running any. do you recommend running feeder tubes? any help would be great. when i build another unit hopefully ill have a better understanding on whats necessary and what is not. going hydro is a lil intimidating. i currently just grow in soil, and have also just tried to clone in soil with sucess. im hoping to root clones faster with this system and have a better sucess rate.(so far 2 out of 7 clones took root in soil)
is that an ample system for cloning?

you don't need feeder tubes, i use a 5 gallon bucket with 2 3 inch airstones and it works fine. also wrap up that tote with aluminum foil tape. otherwise light will get in you res and you will have algea and root problems

thanks dwcattempt. i had planned on it. i am actully going to monkey with that thing a lil more today. I had a busy weekend and barley sqeaked enuff time in to make that friggin thing. i was thinking about using a 5gal bucket also. im gettting my feet wet with this cloner(no pun intended) and if it works well i should give it a try. i dont mind growing small plants as i am restricted in my veg room from the hight. but it would be nice to grow a monster plant with corn cobb colas. You think you could grow a huge plant in a 5gal bucket?how big is your net pot dwc?

net pot is 8 inches and it is a net pot lid that fit snuggly on the bucket

I've totally done away with pumps and feeder tubes. At least for a system like this it is hype. Just go passive bubbleponics and let the airstones (lots of them with a robust air pump) create the mist and do the job.

explain this passive bubbleponics system better it aounds like your saying use almost no water and put multiple airstones in a bucket and have it mist inside the bucket?:weed:

well,....its done. I have offically takin some cuttings from the mother NL plants and I am now in the process of trying to root with my homeade bubblecloner. I cut 8, 2inch holes(give or take)and have put 6 cuttings in and have thrown in 1 clone rooted in dirt and then washed gently until the root system was clean. I also threw in a cutting rooted in just plain water. im kinda just experimenting with different things all at once to see what works for me and my needs. so far out of 7 cuttings dipped in rooting powder and then placed in an organic planting cup filled with soil and placed in a 10 gallon fish tank with a plastic cover slightly craked open for air, i have had six take root. 2 out of 3 cuttings rooted in water and a dash of powder was mixed in to see what happened. they took root in about 10 days not very big roots but shoots developing, they should take off. so now that i have succeeded in making clones i have to many plants. so im gonna flower all the mother plants and start a few small ones. limit my plants going at one time is around four plus one mother grown from a cutting. I have put 3 of the the soil cup clones straight into 12/12 with 2 others that are around 2 months veg/3 wks flower. I'm anxious to see the outcome of that. I'm thinking of just pulling some of them to free up space and get my numbers right.i think im going to try and just grow using the 12/12 for awhile, 4 at a time, see how it works out. im using 5, 26 w cfl's and 1, 46 w cfl in a diy hood(i'll post pics ) with a 2 ft flouro. I'm hoping four plants straightg to 12/12 will be just right for the amount of watts to square footage. those flowering plants will stay and harvest, but this is the hard part, pulling perfectly good plants that i have been LST'ing. the 2 NL mothers are prolly going outside to finish their term while the LST'd ones are pulled. they are bag seed so i didnt really care about them they were just experiments in training. very helpful in understanding techniques that are easy and effective for bud site development(future experiments with training 12/12 from clone in the future) an hey who knows maybe they will get a home in the great outdoors as well. who knows. well i was bored and baked so i went on a tangent. but i will keep progress of grow posted. have pics soon.

its going good. i have about 2-3 weeks left for the one plant that is flowering. and the others are in 12/12 now. the clones straight to 12/12 are starting to get a lil flower on the top of them. its a micro cola.haha.they have grown to be about 5-6 inches at best. im hoping they will stay under two feet.that would mak 3 NL clones in flower 2 motherNL in flower with 3 unknown strains also in flower as we speak.1 of the unknowns is gonna be done in like 2-3 weeks.HARVEST TIME! I made a diy bubble cloner with 8 clone sites about 2 -3 inches diameter and have had 100% take root. so the cycle is finaly begining. it was hard taking the time of growing a few mothers big enuff to take lotsa cutings but its a labor of love. so i now have 8 NL clones vegging in the cloner. They will sit there for another week or so and then its off to the flowering room. The one Mother i am now growing is getting big and bushy, should yeild a few nice cuttings for the cloner and then it starts all over again new Mother and a new cycle of clones. Caint wait to smoke some them stinky ass buds.
