First Cross (UW x UW)

I've had this clone only strain for years and wanted a way to preserve it without dishing it off to trusted folks who end up bailing on it's less than stellar yield.

I bought some colloidal silver from amazon, put it in a spray bottle and sprayed a UW bitch every day of 12/12 for about 3-4 weeks until she started to throw balls. I then moved "it" upstairs (she was in a dwc bucket) and let it do it's thing.

The UW normally finishes pretty quick but I let it go until it couldn't take it anymore. It's now drying for the seed harvest! I plucked one off last night and it's small, dark, hard and mature. :-)

I also collected pollen off the UW and will hit branches of my newer strains too. I have a very nice Grape Puff pheno that finishes fast and packs a nice frosty yield.

Ultimately I'm looking to add some weight to the silly frostiness of the UW.

The breeding games have begun!

Sounds awesome man! I've had UW once and the trich coverage was insane. Very hashy tasting, and just absolutely covered in resin. Have you got a specific strain to add weight to er?

Thanks for your reply. The trich coverage was the main reason that I have kept this strain for so long.

I have done regular crosses before with male x female but this time I used silver to reverse sex on a nice clone-only strain and it worked!

I have a new (to me) Gage Green Grape Puff [Grape Stomper 3A x Joseph OG] that looks like it could add some good weight. I also have Blackwater and a J-1, an indica and a sativa, respectively. I have a few other strains I have not tried yet, Sour Diesel, Cherry Kush, Platinum Kush, etc. All are outside right now and being prepped for a mating. Time to chuck some pollen!

It is also really nice to know that I have UW x UW seeds as a backup.

Reviving an old thread. I made this quite a while ago and then a lot of shit went down. I left California for a few years but moved back a bit more than a year ago and after a reasonable outdoor attempt I'm back at it again but on a much smaller scale.

I've attached a few pics of my UW selfie. It's a long story but my old partner recently gave me the S1's I made from this plant but all of the pollen you see went to waste (as far as I know).

I now have the reagents to make STS and am gonna self the S1. I'll report back but for now here are some pics of the original selfing.

New hey SC Jedi, could you please write a smoke report on that one? is it a couchlock, heavy down indica? bodystone, munchies, short-term memory loss? i think you are the only one who made any efforts to preserve this variety. im not from us so would never get a chance to smoke it anyway, but kudos nonetheless man.

It is a heavy headlock stone and the plants are very trich covered. Finished flowers can appear very light colored and have been nicknamed "Frosty" by friends.

I have yet to pop my S1's but may do it soon. I am one week into experimenting with tissue cultures so if I can get TC to fly I'll take some of the S1 and then run TC lablets. If they appear OK I will pass it around. It is a very sensitive strain and likes to hermie and will with stressors like too much air movement from fans. I'm not sure what carries over with S1 but I'm a bit concerned that this will be one of the traits.

I have had this since 2010. It came to me from Portland via a farm in Mendocino. I guess it turns out that the person I was farm sitting for wasn't supposed to let me take cuttings but it was already too late. When the person that provided the clones found out I got a call asking me to destroy what I took. As you can see I did not cull her. I ran her from about 2010 to 2014 but she got a bit tired and I had some life changes go down so I chose to S1 her for preservation's sake.

I have attached pics from several grows. I have run her in NFT, DWC, and soil indoors & outdoors. She really thrives growing in soilless medium and is a bit of a bitch to trim.

Good for you! Very good insight, as well props for sharing. Wish more people did this.

i don't quite get what do you mean by "heavy headlock stone". in more layman terms is it couchlock, sleepy relaxing indica or more of a hybrid type of effect?

I'll get it done eventually. I work on a much smaller scale than I am accustomed to so things just happen at a much slower pace, unfortunately.

I would say a combination between couchlock and sleepy indica

sounds perfect.. i have bern looking for a heavy down indica for quite some time.. well, i guess just in case you'll feel like sharing some seeds pm me)

I just picked up a cut of UW. Already pollinated her with a few of my males on her pre-flowers. Looking forward to flowering her once she gets a nice root mass. I picked up a cut of Forum Cut and OG Kush also on the same day. It was a good day.
