First closet grow. CFL/Fluorescent

The lst seems to be working great. I definitely see how to manipulate the plant to make it do what I want. I'm going to start topping, and fiming to help aquire the bushiness I'm lookin for. I haven't hooked up the t5s yet but probably will get to that sometime within the next few days. I'm liking how the hood I'm using allows me to control the flow from the fan right over the plant, and up to the exhaust fan on the hood. I'd change a few small things in my design tho. I wish I would've offset the lamp bases so I could get my lights closer together. Overall very pleased with what I've got together tho. The only thing I'm unhappy with is myself for leaving the window open. She is recovering nicely tho.

anything new these days?
should try cloning the tops you cut off.
as soon as they root can throw right into flower or even keep one as a mom so you can do a perpetual harvest.

She's starting to show signs of a deficiency, I think it's calcium or magnesium. I'm going to get a cal mag supplement ASAP. But I know she's been in some shock from the lst and from the freeze out. Ill post pics tonight.

Just saw your thread, liked your diy fixture and wanted to see if you would like to see some of my diy handiwork:).You probably know more about growing than me but I can still give my smart-assed opinion...lol..brownish splotches are a sign of Mg def....I think?!peace

So here's what I got. I popped the roots out and they looked pretty gross. Didn't smell at all but it looks like root rot when I compare online. I added some organism stuff to my mix last time, and it was the same color (dark brown/black) and it looks like the little granules on the roots. Is it possible for root rot to not smell and be slimy? Would root rot be the reason my plant looks so sad? I'm wondering if cutting the brown spots out will kill the plant or if there's enough clean, white roots left to grow back? I also plan on adding cal mag to the nute mix. Any immediate help would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe you didn't see my post......or you just ignored the shit outta me..lol..I am a soil grower but every other grower I know is hydro!40° temps one night won't hurt. You have root rot.You haven't said what your res temps are but your res temps should be 65ish and your ph is too low.Do you have a ph pen,its a very important tool for hydro.I'm not sure what or if there is a remedy, you might be too far gone:(.

I see you. My b. thanks homie. Ill def get into your section when I figure out what's up with my baby. Gonna try and chop out the brown, and hope for the best with a treatment of h2o2. I've learned that too warm of water in the bucket leads to rot also. Not too worried if I have to start over, only bout 3 full weeks in.

Also what should my ph be? I've been aiming for 5.7-5.9 I currently don't have a pen, I'm using the drops until I can spare enough funds for a pen.

Just got done attacking the rot. I wouldn't be surprised if the plant dies. But I tried... We shall see. I fully bleached all my housings, hoses, and fixtures, rinsed the roots with phd distilled water. I made a nute mix with added h2o2 in the mix. Good learning experience and an assload of work. But hopefully it will be worth it. Thanks all for the input so far guys. Light one for my sick Bruce banner tonight!!

I was wrong I guess your ph should be between 5.2-5.7,closer to 5.2.Yeah you def need to splurge on a good ph pen...Im sure amazon or ebay would be cheaper than your local hydro shop

Ya man. I thought a lot about it today lol. But this stuff was mostly given to me so I'd like to try to do what I can with this. I'm always up for a good challenge anyways. If this plant dies ill probably consider it more for sure. Hoping the h2o2 hits the remaining rot hard.

like i said i hope it works out. hate to see anybody lose a plant.
good bag of soil that would last 3-4 plants is $25 bucks and a cheap pot for $2.
not saying your not capable of running hydro. but maybe easier to get a feel for plant health and plant needs out of soil.
i mean soil chuck the plant in soil and water when pot is light. no ph no messing with nutes or cleaning rez's.
but again good luck hope it works out.
