First CFL Grow Bag Seeds

Ok so I decided to keep a grow journal even though my plants are already at week 2. So I have a closet set up with a lock so no one gets in

Right now I don't have an exhaust fan only intake. They're 4 computer case fans on the side and I have a 6 inch hole on the top for whenever I get my fan and some sort of air scrubber. I rigged up some pretty handy stuff. I got a metal popcorn bucket, the ones you can get from like walmart or walgreens, and cut out the bottom with a can opener. Then cut from top to bottom to make a reflector. It's easier to show than explain so take a look at the pics.

The inside is covered with reflective paper, not mylar but its working. I have 5 plants under 4 23watt (100watt equivalent) CFL's and in about half gallon pots. Using miracle grow potting soil with a bit of fertilizer and also mixed in some vegetable potting soil for a bit more, but not too much, nutrients.

I had 10 seeds set to crack on 2/3/10 and 2 did the very next day but waited for a total of 5 on 2/6/10. I set them in the soil and put the babies under the lights. About 2 or so sprouted the next day (2/7/09) and all were sprouted on 2/9/10. -

I made some mistakes the first week in soil because I had been watering them too much. They slowed a great deal of growth but are now back and running.

All 5 plants range from 1.5 inches to 2 inches. They are all about 6 inches from the lights and the temp stays right under 80 with the door closed. Lights off, the closet stays around 73. I had to transplant them from their first pots because they were too small. They seem to be doing wayyy better in the larger pots. I'm not sure if plants are sativa or indica or mixed but when I smoked the bud, definitely did not cause couch lock so I'm guessing they're sativa.

yea i overwatered in my first grow too.. used bagseeds though. I started over just today. germinating some afghan kush =]

bring your light closer 1-3",and run 24 hours for now

A lot of people say that it puts too much stress on the plants though. Has it worked for you??

@ cylee, let me know how that turns out. im thinking about maybe after this grow going with some blueberry. i gotta grow it for a friends in the marines. lol. yeah even people high in the military smoke. where did you get your seeds?? i was thinking bout ordering off the single seed centre.

it got it from AMS (amsterdam marijuana seeds). came to me in a week in an envelope that looks like a greeting card. bubblewrap in between and in little ziplock bags with 2 free seeds. good service

sweet. i'll definitely take a look at the site. thing is i didnt want to order a shitton of seeds cuz im doing this on a short budget. so i bought a bunch of nicks from like 5 dealers and am growing the best stuff i smoked. so yeah. single seed centre can get a bunch of seeds from different seed banks and you can order as little as one seed. so i was thinking about getting like 4 seeds or so.

Yooo jonvid your setup looks great. if i was you i would of bought them big CFL Bulbs. The 300w ones they are great and cheap to run, and show nice results. im currently growing for the first time but with 300w CFL Blue spectrum. have a little look at mine i will keep posted to this thread and see how things go. Also id move the lights closer to the plants

yea it cost me $57 total (including shipping) to get 10 afghan kush and 20 free seeds. if i knew i would have gotten single seeds to make a mother and clone off it :/

thanks ribena. i just moved the plants closer to the lights. thing is i have the fans fixed under the light and if i move the lights lower there wont be any air blowing at the plants, just the back of the reflector. i should have thought twice before setting it up this way but oh well. i think i'll be fine. seriously since i transplanted them to the bigger pots and slowed down on the watering, the leaves have gotten thicker and i can see a good deal of growth.

Ok so today I had my babies get a little fresh air. I opened up my windows and let the cool breeze roll in and left the grow closet door open with a big fan aimed at it at a distance. Only watered once because the soil was still moist all day. Also moved the plants closer earlier like y'all told me to. So that definitely kept the plants cooler and I seriously can notice a big difference today in the growth. The leaves got fatter and are showing signs of more leaf growth. I'm pretty excited. I hope all are ladies.

Oh and I was looking at LST. It doesn't seem too hard to do. What's y'alls view on that? And I'm not 100% sure what scrog or sog is. It seems a bit more difficult though. Also nutes. What are the best nutes to use?

AHHH and money will not be a problem. I'm getting $2.3k for my tax return. I'm so fucking excited. I spent $2.2k on college this year and im getting a $1.8k refund just for school. Only made $16k working so only $500 for that. God I love being a student!!

But yeah, any suggestions on nutes, LST & scrog/sog??

Hey jonvid that sounds good man, somtimes i put my plants on my widow ledge with my window open to give them some nice fresh air. I also use a fan inside my closet.

Thats also good to hear man its probs because you moved the light closer. i cant tell much growth with my plants because i see them everyday lol, but my friends came over and they was shocked how big they grown since last time they seen them.

Ive never tryd LST. Im new to all this Nutes stuff aswell but a friend of a friend told me to use Bio-Grow when Vegging. Im gonna research on that first though i dont want to destroy my bitches lol.

sweet dude. im subscribed to your thread. nice grow man. looks great so far. im only using 4 23watt cfls so compared to yours mine have quite some time to go. from germination, im at 15 days and im only at about 2 inches each plant. i mean growth slowed down because i was over watering them so now i only water one a day and if the soil is still moist at night i leave it till the next day and they have improved greatly. im gonna grow blueberry for my best friend next time around and grow in a hydro system.

so no one knows about LST or SCROG?? come on guys helm me out. im definitely doing LST but what's SCROG?? any suggestions on nutes?? i read that some plant food for tomatoes works pretty well, but not too sure of the info's validity. pictures going up. happy smoking!!

Ok so it's really late right now but I've been hangin out with friends smokin. So I'm wide awake and realized that I haven't updated my journal. So today is 2.5 weeks from seed. All 5 of my babies are up to about 3 inches and are lookin very healthy.

Ive been slowing down on the watering and switched them to 24/0 last night. it seems to be helping them tremendously. I really hope there's atleast 3 girls out of the 5. If they're all males I think i give up on life. Hahaha.

Hey jonvid your babies are looking nice and look very healthy only thing i would suggest is that when the plants get bigger i would transplant them into bigger pots. So it will help your plants expand thier roots and grow bigger

If I put the plants in bigger pots then I won't have room for all of them in my closet. I'm thinking about transplanting them once I find out their sex so I can remove some pots. Maybe that will give me more room for the pots. How bad of an effect will it be if I leave them in the same pots??
