First autoflower harvest time (in)decision

This is the first time I’ve grown autos. The three of them are getting very close, “it’s ‘bout harvest time”. Each time I put it off, thinking one is ready maybe next week, and the others in 2 weeks - That time comes and I think one of the slower ones is now looking the closest to done, and the closest one is now not in a huge rush... for the last almost 4 weeks.

“Ignore guesstimated harvest time from the breeder, it’s only a guideline” you say? Done n done (65-70d), I stopped counting past 90 days sometime last week, so we’re good to go there.

“Wait 3 weeks from signs of plant/fan leaves going “fall”/seasonal.” Yes I am from SoCal, I do know what spring and fall looks like. One plant has been showing signs for a little over 3 weeks, one for a solid 2 weeks, and maybe 5 days ago the last one is starting the same turn

“Trichomes, clear > cloudy > amber”. The one that first/most turned fall color also had its trichs cloud up the slowest (I’m kinda confused by this the most but chalking it up to strain/pheno and noobism). And the frostiest/cloudiest two plants just keeps throwing more fresh pistils and swelling up more the last two week. Those two are sisters, same strain etc, except one I carefully attempted to top at the right time (it’s fascinating, I’m learning and excited at the difference so far). I got Goldilocks tied up in the back of my time machine, ready to go back 3 days in time for when I achieve that perfect mostly cloudy with only the right amount of amber…. That being said, I had planned to harvest them “soon”, but the fresh pistils have me in a loop.

It’s been 15 years since I’ve grown (photos outdoor/gorilla), and I didn’t give 20% of an effort to anything back then. I’m smart and wise enough now to know a lot more, including that I don’t know jack shit.

Excuse my indecisiveness, lack of experience, and other first world problems. Please share opinions and criticism with me, I welcome it. Not even going to say which I think is now or later imho, it’s pointlessly flopping the last 3-4 weeks. Thank you folks.

Lady1, Mephisto Skywalker
She threw a bunch of fresh clear trichs almost two weeks ago that just today have shown uniform cloudiness.

Mosca Frosted Guava Lady 2 and 3.
One got topped and I did some LST to. They looked pretty even and identical the whole grow til then (about the time they started to really flower).

Thank you @HydroKid239 that just gave me something very mind blowing to think about here. It’s gonna explain a bit of what I’m seeing…. Oh man, but bird2…. Thank you very much
If you have heavily damaged leaves casting shadows over green leaf.. remove the damaged ones.. let the light in. They are doing more hurt than help. Anything you clip.. get as close to the stem as possible. Just had a homie find bud rot where he decided to be lazy & not clip fan leaves off by the branch. Moisture was being released from the wound & that was that. Hard work wasted.

I’m considering it strongly, it would br the two plants with the leaves showing the most color. Same logic you shared about slowing the plant down is why I have left them (and they’re purty). I also don’t see anything too negative happening to the plants from me taking my sweet time so far, if anything I’m afraid they’re going to be around for another month if they keep shooting new pistils and phattening up (they are autoflowers, supposedly).

It would only be the (dead) fan leaves, clean and close to the main stem cuts. I’ll keep distance from bud sites, but I do have a good articulating fan covering them to help the wounds dry up relatively fast.

My only real criticism is they are tiny. They look good, just small to me. You've done nice work.
Thank you very much.

Am I making excuses if I tell you they were cracked in mid December in SoCal, with nothing between them and god, except some 1-by-1 and 7mil polyurethane? Supplemented lighting with LED necessary.

I R proud noob

Shamelessly asking for attention/criticism from people who I trust (and) won’t hold back an opinion. @hotrodharley @DoubleAtotheRON @PadawanWarrior @Samwell Seed Well @Herb & Suds @Rurumo

Second this about clipping at the main stem. Those little leaf stems can rot and mold and ruin a bud.

Your cages are limiting the leaf surface for photosynthesis. Remove any dead or dying or damaged leaves.

IMHO, that Skywalker is done. But I like the "right at ready" kind of racy buzz. I cut mine with 1-2% amber, unless I'm looking for night night weed. Then it's close to 10%roughly.

I was gonna post @HydroKid239 , after looking at them this morning, some justifiable excuse to try and keep the biggest fan leaves a little longer…
The ones easily accessible at the main stem will be cut off here shortly (*big sigh*). The ones buried deeper in colas I will procrastinate longer about getting to, if even at all.
Thank you.

Curious why you don’t tie off to cage and use all those clamps. If its for fast adjustments search taught hitch it can be tied in seconds one handed
They were tied to cage originally, clamps added as adjustment necessary. Rope and clamps on hand at the time. I have some training wire now on hand, going forward, and I will google taught hitch brand now. Thank you.

That's just what the people with small trunks say.
Who invited my sock to this thread? (Glad you posted, lol)

Im partial to agree with you, it finally got a consistent cloudiness to the trichs in the last 10 days and I do want to make the attempt to harvest it before too much amber (I’m finally seeing a tiny bit). Biggest “concern” with the Skywalker are the tips of the biggest colas are turning yellow/color, perhaps a better pic is needed to show it. I’m thinking this weekend might be it for the Mephisto. Thank you for seconding that thought I’m having.

I will look today or tomorrow to make sure the trichs are continuing to cloud and not turning quickly amber.

Last night I would have said I might take down the frostiest looking frosted guava for this same reason, in content agreement with you…. Except she shot some more green/white pistils this morning when I looked (jes&$ f$&n chriminey, I’m so confused but enjoying the ride lol).

Hi, my name is Bab, and I greatly appreciate this support group here.

New honest question, should I harvest the mosca skywalker (1st plant, purple leaves) tonight or tomorrow at dawn?… Turn the baby heater off tonight and open the doors or keep her normal?…

Am I being anxious, or is this an amber alert?:weed:

This is 24hr a later. I would be removing the fan leaves as discussed, thank you, but check this out. I see more yellow in buds and amber
