First auto harvest outdoors - Any input?

Gorilla glue auto, grown outdoors.

Harvested today, trimmed, and bathed in some hydrogen peroxide solution followed by water, not a huge harvest by any means but enough for my casual consumption.

Is the drying room okay? It's a furnace room, so it's 24C / 75F and 50% humidity. I think the humidity is fine, but the temperature is my only concern.

I got a fan in there blowing air around the room.

Any tips/tricks and criticism are welcome.

They’re likely to dry too fast in those conditions, particularly as the buds don’t look too dense. I’d hang them for a day or so and then finish the dry in a brown paper bag to slow things down a bit. The bag works great. Make sure the fan is not blowing directly on the plants - that’ll speed things up even more.

Gotcha, good tips!

How did a outside plant stay so small?
No idea, probably my climate. Not exactly hot and not exactly many days with sunshine. Or I fucked up somewhere along the way, also a possibility.

I don't know how big autos usually get outdoors

So the furnace room, with the high temps, would be okay as long as the weed is in paper bags? Or should the paper bags be somewhere else? I don't really have a lot of options. My garage has massive skylights, so darkness is hard to ensure, unless in a cardboard box. I assume air circulation is still important when they're in paper bags?

The choice is between garage, where there's light. Or furnace room where it's too hot. I really need to get a grow tent again, this is all too messy.

Start a grow journal next time and let's learn together!
I will. This one wasn't a super serious grow, so it's okay. I've grown before indoors and taken it seriously with a grow journal as well and it went very well, this one was just a bit sloppy overall. Nutrients not dialed in, container too small, thrip infestation, late in the year, etc.

The high temp of the furnace room is not ideal. Once in the paper bag, if you take that route, they’re naturally protected from sunlight, and the bag does a decent job of holding in the stink. More humid and less hot would be better, but 75 should be fine. The concern is drying too fast in those conditions, when you can lose flavor and odor and end up with hay smelling weed. If they’re drying too fast, after a few days I might jar them, burping frequently initially if your goal is to slow the last stages of the dry. I’m not an expert, but I’ve been through several grows now, helped with others, and read too much.

I think autos need more light than many outdoor circumstances can provide. I tried a few outdoors this year (cold, wet northeast, and I live higher up) and none faired well. They all tasted like crap - sorry to say. One grew quite tall, the other bushy. Literally tossed over an ounce from one and plan to cook with the other. They need some lst to fill out. And lots of light, 18 or more hours, something nature doesn’t really provide. I’ve seen some nice outdoor auto harvests, but the climate and the phenome matter. Never gonna try again where I live. The tent product takes care of my needs. I’m running a journal of an indoor autogrown rn.

Autos 100% need some kind of lst in order to be worth it imo.

Here is a Bruce Banner auto from last summer, i got 6 ounces off her for hash and edibles lol. I dont smoke my outdoor, only the indoor. Screenshot_20231003_071632_Gallery.jpg
