Hello to all! I am posting this so I can document my grow and also to have discussion of opinions, rights, wrongs, and what ever else comes up. I grew indoors for several years but life happened and I had to put it all away and it's been 10yrs. A whole lot has changed. A very good friend donated some auto seeds and here we go. (I have since bought some mephisto and some seedsman for next grow) Here is what I have goin on:
1 fast buds glue auto
1 fast buds green crack
1 crop king gorilla glue #4
1 crop king white widow

4x4x6.5 grow tent with air cooled 600w hid. Right now I'm running a mh until flower then hps.

I have 4 5gallon fabric bags filled with ffof and 20% added perlite. I am going to amend with dr earth veg and flower 50/50 but am waiting till day 21ish and 42ish.
I also have calmag and recharge.
I have used and am planning on using tap water at 6.5 to 6.8

These are the 4 girls at day 5. I did water about 3 shot glasses or so of water yesterday. I am very worried about over watering. I think I'm fine I just dont want to. I'm trying to read the plants and let them show me when to water. I dont know if it's the light or what but the surface inch is always dry.

I had 2 different 600w before but they were the open hood type. I am sort of trying to figure out light height. With the 6" light exhaust it keeps the light cool to the touch almost. You can put your hand 6 inches under the light and keep it there.
Also I am running the lights 20/4 with the light height at 18"

I dont know how well you can see it but I put the bags on a 6" wire shelf because I had them in drip pans and I noticed moist on the drip pan from the bottom. Thought the air circ might help

I like to leave them in the moist. Get good roots at the bottom that way. But I do prefer fabric pots because of the dry sides for sure. Glad you got mephisto for the next round. Curious what your FB lemon ak turns out like. I did 2. One didnt flower until it was put into 12/12. The other one was really pretty but just mediocre quality.

I'm growing fast buds green crack and gorilla glue. I dont mind the moisture just didnt know what to do. First time with fabric. I dont remember having any water issues but I also grew photos and was transplanting often

Man... I missed the mark on that one. Anyway, i can see where less moisture could be good for the first couple weeks but ultimately i would put them in the saucers.

I have them under the shelf. I can put the fabric pots back on the drip pans.

Here is one of the glue from today. I'm still trying to figure out light height. Someone today said 15" to 24" and another said 30"... someone will come up with numbers that worked for them in grow with the same hood. Right now still at 18".
If 18'' isnt cooking them, leave it there.

Well today is one week since they poked through the dirt. I know its early and growth rate on them seems good but some of the leaves look sad. Tips down. I dont know. I dont ever remember paying this much attention to young plants. Probably need to just let them do their thing and try not to overwater.

I raised the light up to 24". I think I can get down to 10" with this light no problem but I dont know if I should chill and let them get another week or two. My old 600w was an open style. It ran it at 24 to 36 from what I can remember.

Well today we are at day 12. Everything seems to be going ok. Watered today about a quart each trying to get the soil from staying completely dry on the outsides. The third pic is the white widow. There is a yellow spot on the top that I think is a water burn by the lights. I try to dry off any water drops. This one was last and I forgot. Dont know for sure just assuming. Lights are at 18 inches. #1 glue auto fb #2 gg4 cks #3 white widow cks #4 green crack fb

Day 14. Just barely started lst today. I just hooked the top and secured it down loose. I figured they were tall enough to start the top headed that way and get some more light.
I have been ok with watering. I've only watered a few times but always let the weight and/or plant tell me when it's time. I figured that's the best cure for overwatering.
Anyone know the size of roots on a plant this size? Baseball?

I dont know what kind of school they went to but damn fungus gnats are magicians. I dont have any in the house right now. I have 3 kids who love fruit so I have experience. Lol. I setup this tent inside. Soil was new bags and done inside. I cut a yellow sticky in 4 pieces just to see how they fit and if the dirt sticks to them. Basically experimenting.(playing).. anyway I have 6 of them already stuck. I havent seen a single one. I have diam earth, neem oil, and/or hyd prxd all on hand but havent applied yet. I also have some predatory nem I'm going to dump in tomorrow.
Man I dont like them in my soil. I dont even know how they could have already had 6 and probably more hatch out and only on day 14. Like rabbits...lol

Day 19 and all 4 have started lst. Its amazing at 19 days and the stalks are as fat as sharpie markers. Watering every 3 or 4 days whenever the pot feels light. I dont see any of the fungus gnats and I never treated. I'm not sure or how I had 6 in a sticky trap and now not a single one. Anyway I have some nematodes.. I will apply next watering in case there are any larvae.
