First Aerogrow Help

So I found a bag of seeds I have been saving. Germinated 2 of them yesterday, they popped open today. I put one in the sponge and in the res, should I do that with the other or wait to see if the first pops up?

I put both my seeds in sponges and into the aerogarden as soon as they popped and it worked out fine for me. Just make sure that the tap root is pointing down! For one of my seeds the tap root was quite long so I slit the sponge in half lengthwise (but not all the way through) and put the seed in with the tap root peeking out the bottom. As I said it all worked out well for me (see the link in my signature)

You might want to germ more I'd say a least 4 more. With 2 you might get all males, with plenty of beans, I would try and improve those odds. You can always cut out the males after they show their sex. Good Luck

Thank you guys. I put them both in the sponges. And I got some good feelings about them, so If they turn out male I'll just start over. =)
I'll post some pics when they pop up out of the sponges

Well 1 has popped up and seems to be rooting well. The other is almost out of the sponge and root is poking out of the bottom. I'll put up pics when I have a camera. This is a total hillbilly project, to test out some of my theory's. it's going slow but alright.

And another question for this helpful site. I just put a new air pump setup in the res. Should I leave it on all 24/7 or with the lights or night period?

Thank you, much appreciated.
Is pH down expensive? is there an easy way to lower it??

And some thoughts, right now my experiment is with one plant. The light cycle is 16/8, tho I'm thinking of doing it 12/12 the whole time. Not trying to big a giant yield, just a decent one off a 20"-24" plant. My grow space is 3ft tall, 2ft wide, and 2ft deep. The inside is covered with a mylar emergency blanket, using the Aerogarden 6 pod res. and my new air pump. For the lighting, it is under 2 13w and 2 14w CFL's(it's what I had and am in the process of getting 4 40+w bulbs). What do you guys think about it?
I will take pictures, as it is starting to grow. and For ventilation...What temp. should this cave be at? I am getting a thermometer today, it feels like it's around 80 with the fan on.

Your going to have to control the height with some LST and topping. Not a big deal start early, dont wait until they are stiff. I would flip to 12/12 as soon as the roots touch the water. The heat will effect the overall health, 70's is better than 80's, 90's is tough to get a yield with out enhancements like cO2. But they will give you something...don't let the res water temp get too high. 68 is ideal for the res. 70's is ok, if the res temps stay in the 80's and above you will have problems. I use general hydroponics pH up and down. Not expensive, but I know growers that use lime to lower the pH in soil. I HAVE NEVER TRIED THIS IN HYDRO!! Do some research it should work but I don't know how much or what it will do to your nutes.

Alright here is my little baby. and two more under domes. (Sorry for picture quality, taken on a webcam) if you can see the pictures and see anything wrong please tell me.

Looking good. Nice start....:D

So the lights just fell and broke my babys neck(stem). =(((
I cut a straw and put it around it for support, Do you think it'll recover from this?

I accidently cut one of my stems during topping and it took a couple of weeks but it did recover!
The "textbook" way of repairing this is to use some copper wire wrapped around the stem to hold it together, you can loosen the wire as the stem increases in diameter.

Alright, so it looks like it's coming back. Just a little stressed I would say. I took better pictures, tell me what you think so far. And a clone experiment from a G-13 female.Picture 004.jpgPicture 005.jpgPicture 006.jpgPicture 008.jpgPicture 007.jpg

Sorry my weeks are messed up. Germinated on the 11th, sprouted out of the dome on the 18th. one seed was going slow so I tossed it outside, the other is still under the dome. 26th lights fell.
My clone project is using just water and superthrive, anyone used this method?
