Finishing too early!!!

No, Im not referring to sex, I've got that under control just fine!

I'm running an OG Kush 8 week strain and I can't seem to make it last that long which I beleive is hindering my quantity. I'm fininshing in 6 1/2 - 7 weeks. I am using a 1000 w HPS per plant plus CO2 and GH nutrients. I veg till they are 30 inches tall. One guy says I must be dialed in and another says I must be stresssing them somewheres. I am averaging 1/2 lb per plant/light.

When I throw them into flower, I hit them with all the light immediately. I am wondering if that might be stressing them? Anyone? Thanks.

Depends on what you call a finished product. If you consider clear trichs ready then at 6 weeks you'll be ready all the time. Do you have milky/amber trichs at 6 1/2, 7 weeks? Also does this happen with this strain only or with others as well? If it only happens with the OG it must genetics. Some mutation that particular pheno has.

good points there for sure... thats a nice yield for hydro and the veg time, that much light and c02 all goin on. some ppl saythey can get 2.2lb per square meter but thats crazy talk those are great yields...anyhow hydro can finish faster then dirt is one thing and clones finish a lil quicker as well. maybe next time pull half the crop at week 7 and the other half at week 8 see what way you like the product. and if there is a noticeable gap in yield between the two halfs. genetic mutation? No. just a fast finishing phenotype. there are strains of pure kush that finish in 6 weeks. hindu kush for one. your plants are normal and finish fast thats great news happy growin to fella. i dont feel full light after the dark period stresses plants. but i do give my crop half its normal light for the first and last half hour of the light cycle. maybe somthing to try out as well

THANKS GUYS. By six weeks, the Trichs are turning milky and the leaves yellow. I still have a few clear. By week seven, no more clear and ambers are just starting. So I start my flush before I see amber. I aim for 4-5 days of just water. This happens with Master, Purple, OG so I would say every strain.

When I flip them, I go 24 hours of total darkness first. Then I keep the lights 2 feet away for several days and then within a foot after that. I will try fewer lights on for 3 days next time. Maybe 11 hours of light for 3 days as well?
I didn't know that clones finished faster, thanks. I only use clones. Thanks guys.

Im sorry but it is not a great yield for that much light. I run 12 plants under a 1000 and yes i pull over 2 pounds every system. I just finished trimming an ak47 tonight that was dead on 4 oz and was in a system with 11 other plants. Keep searching for strains.
Clones are genetically the same plant and will have the same flower time. At the most there may be a couple of days difference.

I agree, my yield sucks. I've got 2 new strains coming onboard now. I've wasted 9 phocking months. I'm sure I had a burnt out Master Kush strain. Ive been getting clones from the same guy and had nothing but issues and pathetic yields.

I was getting seeds too so I was always rushing the take down.

It takes a ton of time and a bunch of different strains to find the ones that work for you, in your room, in your system. I have gone through a bunch of strains and for every 7 i start i keep maybe 1

Really, wow. I was always told that I need to stick with one strain till I perfect it. Well that never happened. Now that I've changed strains, I can really see the difference.

So the room where I use HARD well water and GH Micro hard, with 370 ppm straight water test, they are finishing in 6.5 weeks and they are an 8 week strain. The room where I use a different well water which only reads 180 ppm straight water, they will usually go the distance as in 7-8 weeks. Maybe it's the water?

OG Kush is the hardest strain there is to grow! Even master growers have a hard time. It takes forever to clone. It's super sensitive to everything and needs twice as much Cal/Mag as normal plants. But...it's the best smoke on Earth.

Order some seeds from Attitude. Try Candy Kush, Purple Wreck or some other stellar genetics from DNA Genetics or Reserve Privada.

Wait until you know the plants are done, then add another week... Trust me on this! Think fruit, tree ripened vs. shelf ripened.

Update, first of all thanks, StinkBud and everyone!!

I have found out why I'm confused, lol. When I moved the veg plants into my flower rooms, if they are not tall enough, I try and keep them in veg. HOWEVER, the ordinary room lights which I kept on 24/7, weren't bright enough to keep them in veg, phock! SO when the plants reached 30 inches and I thought I would then flip them, they were already into the flower cycle by 2-3 weeks. This also explains why they never really grew any taller once in flower, phock phock! Because they stop growing 3 weeks into the flower cycle.

And the reason I had to keep the main HPS lights on ther 12/12 cycle, is because I am running to the max on my hydro service so I couldn't possibly have two rooms on a 18/6 cycle because of the 6 hour over lap and my hydro service woyuld burn the main fuses or trip the breakers. That already happened, lol.

So now to corrrect my situation, in each 13 x 20 foot room, I will install 6 - 4 bulb T5s with each having the 54 w bulbs during the veg time frame to get the plants to my desired height. I was using the 4-13w flouresent screw in bulbs which are supposed to be equal to 75w, in each room.

Thanks everyone for your wisdom. I am posting this in order to hopefully be of some help for some other idiot like me!
