Finished the Room

Ok so I finished my grow room awhile ago and forgot to give you guys an update.

I started with a 6' x 5' walk-in closet off a bedroom. I Installed a 400 HPS bulb in a SunLeaves reflector. I used the very popular yoyo's for light height adjustment. Next I put in a Panasonic Whisperline inline fan. It was fairly inexpensive compared to louder models and produces 240 cfm @ under 2.0 sones. I had to watch the noise level produced by the fan due to the location in the attic. I cut a 6" hole in the ceiling and connected it to the reflector using 6" metal flexable tubing. This method of exhaust keeps the closet about 4 degrees higher than the rest of the house with all electronics on full blast. I was amazed by this actually. Next came the fans to circulate air in the room. I chose 2 cheap ass Honeywell desktop fans that could be wall mounted. They are great and move alot of air, but they are noisy as hell. I built a small wooden frame on the floor and used plastic sheeting to make a basic water barrier in case of a spill. (Idea taken from a friend.)

So far everything is going well. The temps outside are starting to turn cool so I think I will be ok this yr without an A/C unit. I will have to tackle odor problems next so any reviews on carbon filters, odor gels and what not would be much appreciated.

What do you guys think so far?

What's the noise like in there? I'm thinking of something similar. bongsmilie
Its not too bad. I am using three Tetra Whispers for air. They seem about 80% quieter than other aquarium pumps I found so that helps. The only real noise is from the wall fans. There is some noise from the air stones bubbling in the water but you can't hear it with the door closed. All in all, I am thinking it will work. Where you mount the exhaust fan in the attic is important so watch out. I have mine across a joist on 2x4's with insulation under it to keep the vibrations to a minimum. Post what you come up with. :leaf:

Ok so I ran into a slight problem with my indoor grow..........ODOR!! So I did some research on the different ways to eliminate the smell. Using carbon filters seemed to be the most popular way so that's what I went with. I built an adjustable angle chimney type filter. In 24 hrs the smell was barely noticeable, in 3 days the smell was gone. Thanks to whoever originally posted that filter idea on here.
