Cool! Let's hear some details! I've been itching to build a veg light. How much veg space? How hard are you driving those?
Great job
For veg, i set up a 3' x 8' space in a 6'8" x 8' room.
Here is a copy/paste from Supra's thread of the specs of the lights:
@ 56.3%
(4) CXB3590 3500K CD 36V @ 1.4A (49W ea) $190
(1) HLG-185H-C1400 $65
196 dissipation W -> 85.7W heat ->
passive cooled heatsink 10284cm² -> 5.88" X 38" heatsink $72 (could split in 2 to improve uniformity/spread)
110.3 PAR W covering 6ft² = 824 PPFD
$311 = $3.07/PAR W passive cooled
(great value point IMO, very efficient use of driver)
$326 = 2.96/PAR W active cooled
This setup seemed like the best bang for the buck. I was told I needed half the PPFD for veg, so my setup is half the lights that I would need if I were to flower in that same space.
The only deviation I made to the setup above was to mount each COB on its own heatsink so that I could space them out the way I wanted. 38" divided by 4 is 9.5", so I rounded up and used 10" heatsinks.
The frame is build using 3/4" x .125" angle aluminum I bought at Home Depot. The angle is secured on via 5/32" aluminum pop rivets. Shear strength of each pop rivet is 225 lbs, so they are more than good to go. The driver is suspended in the middle of the light, mounted on a 2" x .125" aluminum flat stock.
They are BRIGHT! I cannot wait to see what the flower room will look like when I have 32 COBs running. Probably blinding.
