What did you not like about it?
[QUOTE="doobdoobious, post: 11893252, member: 910666"

I didn't like how similar both plants where. they just didn't wow me. besides that they were essentially fine, but I had no wish to run them again...maybe it's because I expected more..
What did you not like about it?
When I bought it a year ago it was half that. I guess my grow and review has jacked up demand?I looked at DNA KushBerry and it was $140!
They are pheno hunting for a "keeper" plant, aka, a mother plant, to be kept and used as a source of clones indefinitely, or perhaps for breeding purposes. What exactly does the term 'keeper' mean?
Ok. But how do you know which plant to keep?
How do know if your choice is going to have the qualities you want if the plant is still in veg? They are pheno hunting for a "keeper" plant, aka, a mother plant, to be kept and used as a source of clones indefinitely, or perhaps for breeding purposes.
You don't, you gotta flower it.How do know if your choice is going to have the qualities you want if the plant is still in veg?
It comes with experience and time. Do what everyone does and pop seeds, grow them out and keep clones of your favorites. How do know if your choice is going to have the qualities you want if the plant is still in veg?
C.C = Cult Classics ?when looking to start a new mother, and not having access to clones too much...how many beans do you pop in search of the best of that particular strains phenos?
recently I popd around 20 gsc seeds from cc in search of a pheno in that line I used to have...
after vegging for 2 months I took 6 cuttings
of those 6, I've had my eye on one from the beginning...
named her...#6!
6 will go on to be the cookie mother!
I'll be ordering seeds in a couple of months and was wondering in your experience how many it takes to find that one special pheno that outshines the rest?

Ok. But what characteristics would you look for? And can you clone a plant that's in flower? You don't, you gotta flower it.
Thanks for the info. You've answered all the questions I had. I cant really pheno hunt because I live in a small apartment but it's good to have the information for when I do have the room to start. Thanks again.OK, my 2nd post here but old time grower.
an extremely short answer:
1 a keeper might be a plant that grows fast and healthy
2 fits your style of growing (how tall do they get? inside outside? etc. ask questions!)
3 when flipped to bloom doesnt show hermafrodite tendencies
4 smells and smokes to your liking when harvested.
as far as cloning goes:
-better veg your plants, take clones from all phenos before flipping to flower. cloning a flowering plant is problematic, to say the least. You could try revegging a plant that has flowered, but I personally don't reccommend it for inexperienced growers. But hey, experience comes from trying and failing!
-you cant really clone autos.
-keep your clones and make mothers out of them untill you know you like the original seedlings produce and grow behaviour
feel free to ask me more, just started my own litthe pheno hunt here again after 20 years away from the game...
Don't need a ton of room. Take a tent and pack it full of smaller plants, pick your favorite and re-veg her. I have sifted through a bunch real quick this way using 32oz hempys. Bodhi said he has seen people do similar in their shower. Thanks for the info. You've answered all the questions I had.
