Finalizing room, some final questions

Hey all,
So we're finally getting our medical card, so we can get our clones and get going. Finishing up the grow room, and I've got some questions.


1. So it gets pretty cold here come winter. We are installing an intake fan, but are concerned with that intake creating a cold spot in the room. We're considering having ducting go from intake along one side of the room, capping the end of the ducting, then punching holes in the ducting along it, so that the cold air is more evenly distributed across the room, so that there's not one spot getting this huge blast if cold air. Thoughts?


2. I have one 1000w dual-spectrum to make this entire 6-plant dwc grow work, start to harvest. Without too much on whether this is the right light (this is what I've got), how far from the plants should this light be for vegging? I've looked around and it's hard to find a definitive answer for a light that's probably more intense than necessary, especially when my babies are tiny.

usually a 20 degree temp change will result in condensation which you really don't want~keep this in mind
as far as your light goes, optimizing the reflectiveness for light and the size of your room vs your footprint will be the most important things to consider.
your layout will be different if you plan to do 6 plants trained outward with an even canopy, versus 6 plants that are allowed to grow upward with a light at the top.

also canopy density is something to consider, if you're growing sativa's or indica's will change how dense the canopy will be.

If you already have a hood i'd see what the footprint chart is like for it and use the optimal distance with the footprint size of that distance being your grow area.

intake filter is key to keeping dust down and light levels high (dust will significantly decrease light %) so if you make an intake filter with a changable filter (1-month filter is like 1$) that would be ideal, just make sure it matches up to the cfm of your exhaust fan cause you don't want to strain the fan, and reduce its lifetime.
you'll be suprised how much dust an intake filter takes out of the room.

as for the ventilation i dont know what to say if the temps are too much of a difference and will condensate i'd go with a different plan for ventilation.

I'm growing Jack Herrer, which as far as I've seen is a somewhere between the sativa tree and the indica shrubbery. Probably not gonna do a scrog net, just let them grow, eventually yoyo and throw lights on the sides. I've got 10' of clearance so my goal is to go for height, especially since I'd like to us whatever room footprint I have left to split off to make a veg area.


Will definitely figure out some kind of intake filter, especially since we're in a dusty area, to say the least.


I'm not too worried about condensation. Yes, I am doing a dwc which will cause its own moisture, but we're in an extremely low-humidity climate.

As far as your cold intake is concerned, you could create 2 different intake sources.

Presumably this is within a building or house etc?? For summer running you could intake from outside. During winter you could switch the intake to one drawing air from inside the building.

It's a shed separate from the house. So there's that. Any intake is gonna have to come from outside. What do you guys think about my specific idea of diffusing the intake out holes in the ducting along the wall instead of having it all blowing out at one point?
