Final cutting question / Darkness period

When you guys do your dark period before you cut your plant down do you water slightly before the dark period as to prolong the drying process? Or do you do one final watering say 2-3 days before putting the plant in darkness and then cutting her down? I've done some searches and really haven't come up with the "ideal" method most people seem to use. Any suggestions/help would be really appreciated.

I tried a 48 hour dark period for the first time my last harvest and I watered a couple days before the dark. She got no water after going dark.

I had my lights go out on day fifty or so and when they came out of about thirty.six hours dark theyd grown new pistils..thick and white..so id bet it does create more resin trichs whatever but arent clear trichs useless anyway?

I have tried 24 hours, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, & will be giving my upcoming plants 5-7 days of complete darkness with 0 water. (watering heavy before lights out.)

Simply because, the plant is still growing / producing trichs & there is no light from a hot 600w light degrading them.. 2nd reason, I am lazy & it takes me several days to chop.. .so why not keep them in the dark.

Depends on the strain. With indica, the more you let your trichs darken the more couch lock effect you get.

I heard you get a bump in resin production with the contiued darkness period. Any truth, in your opinion? Is it the same as having lower humidity so the plant will be forced to produce more resin to protect itself?

If you are growing in soil, don't water during the dark period. If you're growing in hydro, keep watering. You don't want the plants to dry out and die.
thing is, some people say that the dark period thing doesn't make any difference at all. Some strains don't respond at all. It looks like mostly 'white' strains love it.

I appreciate the info guys.. I should of mentioned that i'm in soil (3 gal smart style pots). I generally know what time frame I have until the plant is completely dry. So i'm assuming without the 600 on them the evaporation/entire process would slow down a bit. So as to not worry about mold/etc maybe water a bit less than usual on my last water then yank them?

they used to ring bark them in santa marta colombia back in the 70's this made a golden coloured weed i guess it slowley starved the plant for a week or so before cutting them.
