I just got A new charcoal filter and don't really have the man power to get the help of hanging it on the ceiling. I was wondering if anyone has ever left them standing up and if it worked! It is A Eco Plus carbon air 8" weighing in at 78 pounds with out fan! Any advice would be great because I cant ask anyone for help lifting

You could probably do it but i dont think your going to get the best results, especially if the plants are above it. How were you planning on hanging in the first place.

Have you considered "An adjustable Carbon filter stand" (see pic)

I was gonna use unastrut on the truss's and I have some heavy duty bungees that it would hang from! I have everything all gathered up and drawn out. I was hopfully looking for A alternate solution to hanging.

I have seen those stands and just don't know how hard would it be to stand up? I think I would be in the same dilema I am in now, unless u adjust it from the ground.

Wow ive never heard of those stands. Anyways, can you at least safely get it up on a ladder and maybe go from there? you secure some eyebolts in the ceiling run some heavy duty rope through them, attach to the filter and pull it up. Idk hope that helps.

well if you put the fan high up in the room or at the very least have it sucking from there you will be ok, i used to have one of those monsters and i had it in the garage with air coming from the bedroom above the garage, they work good like that, there is no reason they have to be hung in the roof, yeah its the best spot but it will work fine on the ground, just take the sock off the outside and put it down the hole of that thing since your going to be pushing through it

Well dusty I am not female, Just A guy with A bad back! And not to mention that I would be standing ontop of A 6' ladder to do this.....

I am hopefully gonna be using A comealong to hoist it up and get it secured.

So fat sam- If I leave it standing vertical it will be just as effective? My old room's filter was easy to mount but that was A closet grow. and the filter was A small can 50.

yeah bro you should have no problem leaving it standing on end. thats what i did wit my profilter . also i bought two squares of carpet with a rubber bottom from a hardware store put the carpet sides together so one rubber side was on floor and filter sat on top of other rubber side to make sure the seal was air tight. good luck

yeah its just as effective, plus its a hell of a lot easier for those big bad things because after a year or so when its time to replace it or re-fill it you dont have to worry about taking it down again so it saves your back in the long run
