Fertilizing Wisely

I'm Using ocean forest with extra perlite, Gave them EJ that i think was almost regular strength and was bubbled for over a day and now i've got this. (i'm an over-excited newbie) I did that while they were still in party cups i've since replanted to 3 gallon and given them pdistilled water.

Do yo think I will be alrite? I'm thinking it might take a while for that micro herd to get rid of all that nitrogen.

with new transplant you have new nutrients in it... 3 weeks just water. OK... you'll see her bounce back.

yeah, you are right about the % thing...every company's differrent...will go by what the fox farm nutes EC values are and go from there..as far as pot sizes goes, I was gonna go with the 3 gal grow bags but are considering the 5 gal instead..(i'm tring to get the most pots/bags in my grow area,(47.25" x 47.25") 25-30 pots/bags with ample spacing....i saw a pic u posted in this thread, i think, of your set-up..where did u get those tall 5gal pots from???those are EXACTLY what i would need for my space/amount of pots issue..thus having more area for the roots to grow downward and keep same amount of pots/bags as i would haved with the 3 gal..(the 3 gal bags are 6.5"x 13"x7") thanks for all the usful info....appreiciate that oversight on the % thing also.... OH, REMEMBER I WILL BE GROWING AUTOS...SO WHAT U SAID ABOUT ONLY GIVING THEM PH BAL WATER FOR THE FIRST 3WKS IS DEAD ON POINT BRO! (HEARD THAT MORE THAN ONCE)

hey you know that 20% thing was testing on that specific product. Advanced line (which i use) is really good stuff... hell your ocean forest alone is great stuff... So make sure that you dont do very heavy feeding until at least 3 weeks after transplant..

I usually transplant during vegging to give nutes and hardly ever give them anything from a bottle other than ph's water.

for flowering.. well i transplant the plants into a 5 gallon bucket and give them a week or so before i switch the lights... so say by week 3 of flowering im starting low 400-600 ppm feedings... watering two cycles then uping to about 800-1000.. by then after the two water cycles its about time to flush...

by the way... all the watering cycles i add mollases to it as well... even during flushing... Love the stuff.

OH yeah you will really notice that cha-ching kick on man... wow ...what a product... im gonna switch over to that line when i run out of the advanced shit... I really dont use the ferts that much... but the aditives is what i liked.

Carbo load im gonna try this time around.. and probably a water feed water feed schedule... ill go back to water water feed if any issues arize of course..lol.

dont forget people that if you go to the mandala website they have soil guides... common plant problems...and other guides and tutorials that are just as informative as this one.

Hello all,

Well i was ordering some seeds from Mandala seeds the other day and I saw a disclaimer asking people to note use there stuff without permission. Being the law abiding citizen that I am...LOL... and that I have morals. I sent them an email. Jasmin over at Mandala Seeds was very nice to grant me permission (after the fact...Sorry about that again) to post this information that I pasted on this site. She did correct me on some things and i am having FDD make those changes as soon as he is able/willing to do it. (Thanks again FDD)

Also, She left me with some words of the wise...

EC and ppm are basically the same thing.

In a nutshell, don't add the recomnded EC/ppm to the water, but to make the water read the recommended EC/ppm
Emailed to GenFranco =

I noticed that someone posted that EC and PPM are the same. This is not true and there is a vital difference between the two: the EC is the electrical conductivity of a solution and always a standard reading on any calibrated EC meter. But PPM meters differ in readings depending on manufacturers. They convert the EC according to their own technique and there is no standarised result between different PPM meters. This makes it difficult for a grower to compare their readings with someone else. This is why we only use the EC as the basis for our recommendations.
We wish everyone at the forum much success with their gardening.
Thank you for your support!

Best regards,
Jasmin
:weed::weed: There!.. I feel better now...LOL

What ppm schedule works for you guys?
My pure vida says 6oo ppm -17oo ppm
I had been giving them 7oo ppm for a bit too long,
but last feeding switched to 1ooo ppm

How often should i raise the ppm?
Every feed? I was told to get them to 18oo ppm.
Thanks

Hey sorry its been a while...

You increase with every feeding... I usually increase by 200 ppm at a time...

You were told by who? The company? The problem is that different strains react differently to nutes. Some need a lot of nutes and other barely none at all. Just keep a close eye on them and dont increase the feed if you start developing signs of overfeeding. If you burn them up a little i would recommend going back to the water water feed schedule. That should clean the soil a little by the time you feed again.

Also... soil is different than hydro. High ec levels in hydro is common... But in soil youll start seeing deficiencies quick going over 1100..hell most strains by the time you hit 1000 they are burning... Just whatch YOUR plant for these signs bro.

Good luck man!!

Cheers for this thread m8. Its great. Im just wondering how you mix your nutrients. For example you mix all together at one or just add different nutrient every watering. For example i have all nuts from canna. How should i feed plants wih canna boost, pk13/14 and canna flores? You feed plant every second watering or like mandala says every ten days?

yeah you use all the nutes at once, unless specifically parted out for veg/flower/ flush, so that's like, it. grow it then bloom it, two categories of ferts (molasses or whatever to flush for some) dieselmate

Great subject to keep in mind, as in the KISS method. Been growing since 1972, indoors since 98, and am still tempted to overdo at times. I grow in ffof soil and have always amended with perlite and a bit of dolomite lime, and perlite inch deep on bottom of pot, but based on the Mandala info, will try no perlite. Eyeopener about the % levels deviating from the recommended. I usually have always run most ferts at around 30%, but they are talking down much lower in most cases! WOW!

This thread will be very useful to people. I read it ages ago when googling info on deficiencies and over-fert and since then my bottles of fert last 4 times as long (big money saver) and I now know to be patient and wait a few days to see results rather then re-feeding.
