how do they make Feminized plants?

yeah but more along the lines of

how do different banks that guarentee that the seeds will be female? how do they actually produce those?

i dont want to do it just interested

you give a female plant chemicals that make her produce nanners and polinate herself. those seeds in turn are femanized. also if u have a female plant that just starts to poke out a few nanners deep into bloom, those will be femanized as well. it has to be dominantly female except for a few nanners.

why dont they just do that with all seeds?

feminized seeds are not going to be 100% female which kind of defeats the purpose of spending a boat load on them... also I'm not sure what the percentages are of femized seeds maturing in hermies.

im not planning on buying them... cause usually they are really expensive and you can get the same non feminized for like a quarter of the price lol

basically if you stress a female enough it could turn herm,so it should then produce feminized seeds,if however a plant turns herm coz of its genetics then the seeds will probably all be herm,,,,,,,peace

using the chemical reversal that was mentioned earlier isn't really used to make fem seeds as it is used to creat s1 strains an so on of clone only strains out there ie...pre98bubba,kens gdp,11ogk's...etc etc....peace az

I agree with mr.skitz on the stress hermie seeds.I've had plenty of plants freak out and turn hermie,(or it was in the bag seeds genes)produce a handful of seeds.About 90% of the females i got from the seeds had hermie traits that makes it really hard to get sinsi

i haven't planted that many so your mileage may vary but i've always gotten females from feminized seeds (no males or hermies).

They are worth the extra money (to me) since i don't plan on cloning and don't start very many plants at once.

I won't use seeds that come from any of my hermies that fly in under the belt.I thought about buying some feminized seeds. I read that if you let a female plant go a while past harvest it will produce those funny looking banana pollen sacks that will only open if stressed.Collect that and that is your feminized pollen.I tried but i think i pollenated to soon cause i got 0 seeds.Here is the link check it out. See because the rumour is a misconception?! It's not the plants from the fem. seeds that turn hermie, it's the clones from the mothers which were grown from fem. seeds that turn hermie. So go with non-feminized if you want that to be the last time you buy seeds, and take clones from a good mother from that point on.
