feminized vs normal

getting ready to start my first indoor grow and have been checking out the seed banks. Is it worth buying feminized seeds vs normal. they are a bit more expensive, but to be honest it would help me out alot by not worrying about sexing the plants. are the yields and quality the same as normals. Any info from prior feminized users would be appreciated.

I have ben using fems for 3years,I have never had ahermie the potency is strong and the flaver and resin production isabove normal.I would suggest buying top notch seeds.I have used Opium from paradise and ghs fems all have been great. The opium would be great for afirst indoor grow,The buds swell to huge balls of goo

I use fem seed too they work out great.I guess you will really have to stress them for them to go hermie.Smoke is always good if u grew it imo.U can get fems to start with later on down the line get some reg seeds and compare.

I've also used fems only. Great stuff, no need to watch for balls unless you get some junk genetics. Heck even with high heat, some light leaks, underwatering, overnuting my freebie g13 labs fems never threw a single ballsack.

Old school growers like regular seeds but I have enough other things to worry about. I am sold on attitudeseeds.com. Use voucher code 420 for a 10% discount on seeds.

On your first grow I would opt for a cheaper (non-fem) seed just while you figure things out. The last thing you want is to buy the exp. seeds and have your first indoor grow go down in flames if you missed one step (hot lights, poor ventilation, PH levels, etc.) It's a harder loss if your first expensive grow dies. My vote is to run with cheaper seeds the first time out in a new element.

Anybody who skimps on seeds is crazy.Get the best seeds you can affordand go with atrusted name brand seed. You get what you pay for!Paradise, THseeds, flying dutchman,GHS,I like subcools gear but you have search for the good phenos and this takes months if not years.

It's my first grow, I'm using feminised seeds, and they seem great ( don't have much for comparison). Just went into flowering a week ago, and starting to see flowers, it's nice to see up close what female plants look like without having to worry about figuring out the sex. The pics on the internet are alright, but it's much easier to understand after you've seen it for yourself.

I only do regular seeds now. I'll keep males for some targeted pollination occasionally. I ran fems a few times, but gave up after I caught a hermie. The thought of all my plants getting seeded because of one rogue if I wouldn't have been there or caught it convinced me to switch ( the idea of cleaning a couple pounds of seeded bud just to get a few ounces is enough).

While everyone's on the subject. Is growing fem seeds outdoors such a bad idea? It seems like everyone says something different on this subject.
I get people who say never to buy fem seeds and that it's all a myth and a gimmick. And they will probably turn hermie.
But I think these people could be biased and just be "older timers" who don't like the idea of artifically making a plant forced female because eventually it could destroy the natural seeds. (I don't have anything against that, only wish to get the truth.)

At the same time, I get people who say that fem seeds worked out PERFECTLY for them. So... What's the deal?

According to DJ Short there are two reasons why a plant hermies: genetics and stress.

Sometimes a breeder may make a mistake with a batch of seeds, or even worse farm out the work to an inexperienced breeder, and the plants from these seeds will hermie regardless of the grower's skill. Sometimes a strain is prone to hermieing: Blueberry is often considered a less sexually stable strain and a larger percentage of growers will get hermies with Blueberry than Northern Lights.

Stress can be anything as simple as irregular lighting, heat or improper ph. Two growers with seeds from the same batch could have different results depending on growers skill and ability to keep the plant from stressing. I've had 3 of 4 fem strains turn hermie, a better grower might have had none.

That's about it.

Heh... well maybe it's just because I posted here last night that this has happened :P But I went to check my girls this morning and one is hermied/male :( Either way it has big balls and it's been taken out of the growroom.

He's currently sitting in my bathroom awaiting execution.

Can't bring myself to do it :(

almost forgot . if u do go with fem seeds, it's perfectly normal to see a banana or two in the 6th or 7th week. no worry. by then its to late for the plant to produce seeds. that is if u harvest it within 8 weeks. good luck\

get reg. seed dont do fem if you want to have more seed you could make your own. even sell them to your friends. you cant do this with fems to unstable they will herm .for this reason i think fems should be cheaper the regs. i could take regs and make more of that same strain with out haveing to reorder more seeds, but with fems i have to keep going back to the dealer. maybe one day they will think of this and change it around or even stop selling regular seeds all together male pollen will become exspensive just like in the dog or horse worlds the seed industry is assbackward in that respect. they charge you less and give you more, but charge you more and give you less i would rather have the ablity to make my own seeds for ever then to have to keep buying fems but thats just me. and i live in the usa,and i dont have acces to seed banks the way other countries do canada , amsterdam, UK so for them i guess it would be too time comesuming to have to remove males. but all i do is take 4 of my 10 seeds and veg then sex all need is 1 female then ,clone, clone, clone, then take that male you kept and pollenate one of the clones then you have seeds for life didnt even need to use the other 6 seeds. and all this for a fraction of the price of fem seed,
so you can kindof see why i say reg. seeds are a still, for where im siting its a still, i guess you could pollenate a fem but you would have to pollenate with a differant strain and this would make it too unstable, not to mention a new strain all together which could be good or bad most likely bad if you are crossing with bagseed. or you could be like that other guy who posted that he buys fem seeds every year theres nothing wrong with it at all you have to find whats best for you - where i live its not ez to come by good gens..............................
