Feminized Seeds weaken strains

Hey guys I really hope he doesnt mind me bringing it up here but Subcool was talking in irc about how with feminized seeds your losing quality genes over generations that will make your strain weaker in the long run because its not getting those male genetics and some which are important to us such as resistance to mold and disease and production of even THC itself, now I am just trying to summarize the IRC conversation here so dont jump on me if thats not his exact message - anyhow the point seems to be that 'feminized seeds are bad for the cannabis species as a whole'.

So I just want to get some more thoughts and discussion from the community here on what they think about feminized seeds....so hit me with it RIU! Look forward to your feedback!

I've never had any desire to use them just because I figured something like that to be the case. I always thought they were kind of a lazy way to do things anyways (not calling anyone lazy as the seeds are well hyped). If you think about it, it seems kinda like in-breading, and somewhere down the line the genetics are bound to suffer, at least occasionally. I'm sure all the feminized dick riders are gonna attack the shit out of this thread too! Lol

fem seeds themselves are not bad, but breeding with them could be.

its not like fem seeds grow worse plants than nonfem. breeders should use males to create new strains to keep a diverse gene pool

What is the point of feminized seeds anyways? I know it's to have beans that are all likely female, but how hard is it to isolate a good female out of a normal bag and turn her into a mother? It's not hard at all. Maybe they're for beginners who can't clone or don't have the space for a mom? Anyways, good post.

id say thats what there mostly for i only have the time to grow 1 crop a year so gettin all females is a big plus i dont have the time or space to mother or clone...wish i did haha

You can ride any dick you please. Haha yes sorry about the contrary terms, kinda a joke cause I always hear people wining about femmes going hermie. But I'd just rather have the pure regular strains than femmes. All my grows are planned so finding mothers don't bother me.

People with small spaces dude. My box can only hold like two mature plants, and if I got a regular seed pack I run the risk of wasting a month growing a male. With feminized there are no worries.

I've got 2 fem GH Widow and 3 fem GH Rhino, all slightly hermie at 6 weeks flower.
i'll never buy fem again.
the Dankmiester knows his stuff so i have no reason to doubt what he say's, to be honest i think fem beans were created to let noobs grow good strains easy. every grower worth his salt on this site uses reg beans and chops the male's, standard.

Hmm yeah space is really just the issue.. It is such a waste to grow 2 plants and find out they are both male a month in and start from the ground up again. And it sucks to use 6 seeds and pull all females and not have the space to let them grow :D

my last grow was 6 fems, 6 different strains from 4 different seed banks. 11 to 16 week flowering depending on the strain, no signs of herm whatsoever.

i got no problems with fem seeds.

with anything they is pluses and minuses, just what fits you, i've never bought feminized seeds just because they are more expensive for less seeds, i like to have the option of "re-newing" an existing variety with a male of a different strain, and creating something unique and possibly superior.

well im guilty of using fem seeds...i do it as a way to save time and money...if i have fem seeds i dont have to lose plants at the beginning of flowering and plant new ones...so it takes up less room in my garden because all mine are fem seeds so unless i get a hermie i know that those plants will be there from start to finish.

you point does make sense though...i got a purple wreck flowering and a mystery seed (that i found in my stash like a year ago) flowering...both at day 60 today...the purple wreck was a fem seed...i had NOTHING but problems with it from beginning until now...its extremely sensitive to the smallest amounts of nutes...(fox farm nutes+ soil btw)...the mystery one never a problem. they are both in 5 gallon pots but the mystery seed could handle prolly close to twice the amount of nutes the wreck could handle without issue.

maybe there is some truth to it...and my purple wreck (...get this...) LST'D ITSELF! no joke....during flowering the main trunk just slowly day by day layed itself down onto the side of the pot and thats how its been since...so its lst'd without any effort...maybe thats a good thing...they should make self lst'ing seeds haha.

That's exactly why it's called "Train Wreck". Because it's a really lanky plant it can't hold the weight of it's buds (the stems are too weak) so when you walk into your grow room it looks like a train has driven straight through, plant's mashed up all over the place! And that's the official story straight from "T H SEEDS" (it's their strain) any other urban myth is bollocks!

Been using FEMS and only hermie ive had in the last few yrs was from a reg seed and never gotn a male from fems. My kill is always dank. I dont breed and dont feal like there is a need to get males. I dont knock breeders for not offering fem seeds but the ones that dont usually talk shit on fems and last time i checked no study has been done to prove anything negative about fems..
