Femenized vs Non

Well what i was talking about was the angle of the bulb... the sides of the CFL are a lot brighter than the "tip" is... the tip is a weak point. As for positioning a CFL above, it's an effective method as long as you have it sideways with a decent reflector behind it. Combine that with vertical hung CFLs lower down in between the plants and you should have some good saturation. Infact, if done right, you might not even get much popcorn bud at all thanks to the vertical hung CFLs.
Hey, what's your experience with grow tents? I was looking at a 1000watt ballast for only like 100~$, all I would have to do is pop on a bulb right? I wouldn't be buying one, just making it out of mylar and PVC.

I think fem vs. non-fem is dependent on what you are trying to do. My MAIN deciding factor is the amount of space I have available to me, and the way I have managed my small grow space over the last few years. I have a vegging cab, and a flowering cab. My veg cab will accept either several small pots that I will have to transplant, or one big sized pot that I typically flower with that will require no transplant. I don't like doing transplants do to early root-bound conditions.

My flowering cab accepts 3 of my desired sized pot sizes. I like to keep them spaced 30 days apart, as that is typically how long my veg cycle is. So when I am not feeling lazy, I can have a new harvest every 30 days. So my max capacity is 3 pots in flower, 1 in veg. As soon one of my pots in flower completes..... BOOM, I move the one from veg into flower, and immediately start another seedling which will veg for another 30 days approx.

It took my a few cycles to get things he way they are now, but if I keep up full production, it is like clockwork!!!! I have dabbled with various seeds I've had, and sometimes if I get a male, it fucks that entire cycle up, and typically just makes me greatly slow down my production. If space weren't a concern, I probably wouldn't mind culling the males. As when I used to grow outdoors, I would typically plant a ton of seeds knowing that some of the heard would have to be trashed, and it was no biggie since i had plenty of samples.

So for me, given my space limitations, fem seeds just make the whole thing go a lot smoother.

About my schedule, here's a look at what my flowering cab looks like. You can see how these 3 TWO Gallon pots fit in there.

Smart idea, efficient box-shape container vs the wasteful circular.
Also, those boxes, I just use those to catch water from my grow bags. The way I water is that I just dump water in that box, and let the soil absorb the the water as it pleases. I have a pretty good idea of how much water my plants like to have depending on maturity. So in late flower, I know that each pot typically likes about 1/3 gallon of water every 3 days or so, so to water I just dump the amount directly in the box. So it's quicker than having to slowly water from the top......

I started doing this cause I used to keep a layer of sand on the top, and I got tired of having to redistribute the sand after watering every time. I have gotten lazy over the years ;)

I wrote about it in a thread I mad, in THIS post.
