female or male?

i have been pretty good at determining male or female in the past, but what I'm looking for is early signs of sex? I have heard that males grow taller to release pollen upon females, and also grow more sporadic than females. are round tips on the leaves compared to pointed leaves most likely male? I know signs dont usually tell till 12/12 lighting, but want to find out if i can tell the sex before they start making pollen sacks if there is a male in my grow. If you have any opinion or answers to my thread then please post, your help is much appreciated. :peace:

You cant be sure till the sacks start forming. You can only git a idea what could happen! If you want to know erly flower a clone!

If your experienced you can tell at the sites where pistils would normally form you will see a different kinda growth its hard to explain.you will figure it out after you grow a couple dozen plants.

leaves being pointy or not doesnt matter. if you examine preflowers you get a very good idea of sex, but occasionally female preflowers will be deformed at first and what looks like a male based on preflowers(which tend to show around 3-5 weeks of age assuming the plant is healthy and doing alright, when i start seeing alternating nodes i start looking for preflowers. preflowers and alternating nodes show u when a plant is sexually mature no matter the light cycle they are under). youll still want to flip to 12/12 to ensure youve got a male before killing a plant. dont worry thoubn, youve got more than enough time between when you can first tell its a male for sure and the sacks mature and pop and seed up your females. The only sure way to know w/o having to flip to 12/12 is use clones, even *fem* seeds have a chance of being hermie unless you know for a fact they were made using a true female(a female that cant herm from natural stresses, found by intentionally interuppting the light cycle repeatedly to weed out any non-true females which must be sprayed with colodial silver or another solution to make it create pollen sacks to breed them.)

so you said that the females can look deformed at first? what if your growing the same strain cause i can see the difference in structure.
I just want no seeds in my buds.

the early female preflowers can, yes.
notice how both male and females have a little bump but the female also make pistils, sometimes though the early female preflowers will be deformed and not spit out pistils. making it look similar to a male preflower. you dont need to worry about seeds as long as you kill any males you get before the pollen sacks are mature and pop, plenty of time to tell its for sure a male before its dangerous.

thanks man i appreciate all the info. I've never actually had a male in my garden just gettin a little anxious i guess. I think im gonna stick with chopping the ones that assume to be males before they show sex because the fact that I LST my plants and dont want to veg a plant for a month or so and have it come out male (not to mention available space.) ozman had a good idea about cutting the clones though. thanks anyway guys.

for me its easier to tell the males... look for the balls. no balls, light a blunt its a girl. once you have seen both once or twice you got it... its easy. even i can do it. when you have a nice female you like take a few cuttings.
