Feds Threaten State Dispensaries NationwideRead the Department of Justice’s “Haag Memo” here: http://www.cannabistherapyinstitute.....haag.memo.pdf
In a little-publicized memo, the federal government has indicated that the gloves are off with regards to medical marijuana dispensaries, “regardless of state laws.” Previous memos had indicated a loosening of federal prosecutions of medical marijuana, however the new memo states very clearly that the feds consider all dispensaries illegal under federal law and that their prosecution is a “core priority” of the feds.
The “Haag Memo” was written on Feb. 1, 2011 from United States Attorney Melinda Haag (Northern District of California) to John A. Russo, Esq., Oakland City Attorney, in response to an Oakland City Council request for guidance regarding medical marijuana and federal law. The memo was written with consultation and approval from U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.
The “Haag Memo” clarifies the “Ogden Memo”, which was written by former Deputy Attorney General David W. Ogden on Oct. 19, 2009 for the Department of Justice. The “Ogden Memo” seemed to indicate that the new Obama administration would restrict federal prosecution of medical marijuana providers in states that had medical marijuana laws. This was heralded by many as giving them the green light to pursue medical marijuana activities, as long as they were in compliance with state law.
The “Haag Memo” clears up that misconception with some very unambiguous statements. The memo says clearly that the feds will not look the other way on medical marijuana. The “Haag Memo” states very clearly that the feds will continue to investigate, arrest and prosecute medical marijuana dispensaries in every state “regardless of state laws.”
In addition, the memo calls prosecuting medical marijuana dispensaries a “core priority” for the feds.
According to the memo, medical marijuana commercial activity is still considered by the Department of Justice to be “a violation of federal law regardless of state laws permitting such activities.”
The memo may be the cause of the recent increase in federal raids at medical marijuana dispensaries. Only 4 days after the memo was issued, the DEA raided 4 dispensaries in California Just this week, the DEA raided more dispensaries in California and Montana. They arrested dozens of people, and seized the assets and bank accounts of several dispensaries.

basically this means that the federal government is at war, with how many states now?

they are invading their own states with armed forces and taking hostages and stealing property and money.

basically.

but then again, the drugwar has always been that.

the government (or to be fair, the majority of the people) at war against its own people (the minority)

Man thats fucked up.. :|

why the fuck do the feds always have to act like a bunch of bitches??

The states (legal states) are cool with it... why the hell cant the feds be cool with it?

I mean, if people are following the rules of medicinal cannabis... whats the fucking problem?!?!?!

Fuck the feds.. that's what I think personally. Fucking assholes... :|

(sorry for the language.. it just baffles me why these states would go through all the trouble to get cannabis legalized for medicinal usage.. knowing the on the federal level.. it wouldn't be alright.. and the feds wouldn't go along with it. I mean, there's bound to be issues in the future... with a situation like that.

Ugghhh.. :|

peace..

And Big Pharma is lovin' every minute of it. So, one can presume the feds seized patient lists as well?... hopefully that info. isn't recorded.

We're a core priority now? There isn't anything else going on in the US right now? So since its "regardless of state law" wouldn't it be probable that the caregivers are next, then the patients. Unless feds just want their big bonus, then the money would be in the dispensaries and maybe caregivers. This is sick, I think this country needs to reevaluate some things as well. (Like all the protests around the globe.)

Forgive my ignorance, but why couldn't all states police and govern themselves? Instead of 'feds' they could be special task force of whatever state they're in. It's like this way as feds they get to swoop in, do whatever they want, and don't have to answer to anybody (people wise. As in we the people, us, the ones that live here and pay taxes here, and vote here.) Where's our representation on that? We don't even have a choice.

I don't feel free

I wonder how much money Big Pharma has lost since these states have medical Marijuana? The BIG corps fund these crack downs. The drug, food, oil, energy, Industries along with the medical industries (Doctors, hospitals.) make tons and tons of cash killing us. They would all go bankrupt if people are awaken to the truth of marijuana and hemp. Oh ya! And don't forget the black market dealers they make tons, then there is the CIA, DEA, FBI all have there hands in the money cookie jar. Can't forget the prison system, both public, and private gets tons of cash that "WE the people....." pay for. Thats right the tax payer foots the whole bill for non-violent marijuana smokers to be locked up. For what? A PLANT!!!
When will the Americans say "Enough Is Enough". When will we put aside the political parties that continue to be protecting these Corporations? When will we put aside our opinions, our beliefs, our race, culture. Abraham Lincoln once said "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." We are destroying ourselves by letting these thugs get away with stealing our freedoms for their gain. How do they do it? By dividing the people "for or against" a certain opinion.
The American people are so divided, confused and asleep it's not even funny. Rich vs. poor, legal vs. illegal, unhealthy vs. healthy, Atheist vs. religion, right vs. left, abortion vs. life, etc;. We vote based on which party will make our opinions law. I don't want my opinions law, or anyone else's, it's not our or the governments job to make opinions law. Marijuana became illegal based on opinion (government Propaganda) and not facts. As long as no one is causing harm or threat to me, and my family or property then why should I care what you or anyone else does. If you can't make good decisions, and know right from wrong then the consequences of the choice you make are yours choice's. Therefore Marijuana and hemp should be free from any law, and made a choice. Washington use's this whole two party system to keep us divided. Republican or Democrat it's just the right and left wing of the same dirty bird. All their policies are the same, nothing changes.
They spew stuff to cause us to be divided by choosing a side. Then like big time wrestlers after the show, they all go out and party, and have dinner together, play around of golf.
Together we stand, divided we fall.........................

Theyre already kind of doing this here in Las Vegas. But if you read the law here, dispensaries aren't covered by them. The law in nevada says that your allowed to provide your own medicine by growing 7 plants or less, but it doesn't say anything about dispensaries. I know it's retarded. Like I read somewhere else, were not all green thumbs. Growing weed is technically easy but its kinda a pain in the ass too. It's like Tylenol is legal, but it's illegal for any store to sell it...so you have to make your own?? It's ridiculous.

Anyways if your white don't worry about it. White people smoke weed exponentially more than any other race yet black and mexican people are arrested way more.
It sure is nice to be white in america.

so another mission that will succeed at nothing but earning them money and will do nothing to fight substance abuse! What a joke!?!??! What will this solve? Their growing debt!?!?!?

when will people see they are playing on your trust!?!?!!?! This will do nothing to stop the damage done to society from substance abuse! Get REAL PEOPLE WAKE UP! WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE FOOLING!?!?! Nobody - just politics as usual - Criminals do not deal with dispensaries because there is no profit for them! When you walk into a dispensary what do you see? Responsible adults, Veterans, Senior citizens - They go to a dispansary so they do not have to be involved with criminal activity! HELLO!

This is a threat on our veterans and on our senior citizens and most importantly on the people who heal them and we will not stand for this, We can not stand for this!

My prediction is that they will hit the states that dispensaries are not explicitly writen in to law: Nevada, Michigan, Montana, and anyone else who has not been through court about dispensaries yet, I would assume only these states are going to be raided and if that works out for them they will go back to Colorado or maybe even California eventually - not to write-off the fact that this could be merely a scare tactic in which they try to make examples out of a few dozen dispensaries or something, I'd be especially worried if I had a dispensary in Michigan personally. It is sad because I have donated to michigan dispensaries and 90% of their patients are COMBAT VETERANS!

Stay legal. Keep the faith. Stand united. Someone here correctly implied that they use fear to divide us. Lets stay positive knowing that this is the people of Michigans law and that the dominoe effect of other states becoming medical is happening as we speak. What is the Govs excuse gonna be not to legalize when a majority of states are medical?
