FC8000 ignites.

Had an FC8000 that ran fine for a bit over a year. Few days ago I noticed it flickering, replugged it in and it went away. Saw it flickering again today and smelled burning plastic, the wiring was literally melting at the connection between the light and the driver. If I had not smelled it a fire surely would have started.

It looks like theirs burned at the same place, my driver was not scorched black though I must have smelled it faster than him.

Edited out a bit of dramatic commentary out of OP, hoped no one would catch me.

The light should be replaced free of charge seriously as much as we pay for these lights...

So I received an Email back from Mars Hydro. They want to send me the connections that failed(in two weeks when in stock) then have me strip both wires, and re-soder them all together.........................

Yea that easy man I'd would also tell them that ot could of possibly messed the driver up "or it did wheit happend".. that way you get a new driver and connections u gonna be man when do the connections and the driver shorts soon as it plugged up seen it happen to man times man.. they'll send you the driver to bro I've been using them for years man.. good people

Just tell em the driver smells smoked aswell u took it apart I would anyway it was to look at and diagnose....

I've seen them short put soon as the get plugged back up from this same problem you've got bro..

Are you a certified electriction? I mean its easy enough to do.. but what happens if it burns agian and burns up your place or worse? Who's liable? You are and if your insureance learns you wired the light that cause the fire you can kiss your coverage good by.. sorry just my two cents

If inwere you inwould tell them I want a new light brother.. and yes ove done industrial electrical for 16yrs.. tell them you want the light replaced you don't feel comfortable running the light

That's crazy. They should send you a brand new light immediately and include a pre-paid return postage label so you can put that one in the box the replacement comes in and send it back at their cost. Expecting you to replace the connector yourself is ridiculous.

Did they really want you to replace that connector? I have a hard time believing that a company would expect you to fix that yourself. It may not be difficult but damn. The thing could have started a fire. If what you say is true their resolution to the issue is insane.
