there is two reasons why I like a strain: 1. I personally like it 2. its popular, and in demand.
1. old old school skunk: it was the quintessential catalyst for my curiosity in to cannabis. what was that smell wafting down the hallway from my parents door. its so nostalgic for me I can pick it out of a crowd. shame not many people grow it, skunk #1 really is a great yield since they stabilized it with the other sativa. I was told second hand, first skunks were not very high yields, but its didn't matter since it was so "out of sight"
2. Bullrider, I was a new grower2002(ish), and was working with established growers. under their guidance this was the first strain I ever took form clone to curing. I always felt so out of place in OB, I sat in the car for two hours one night while my friend was in Arizona bar, I was laying in the back seat on a gym bag of bullrider =) then a quick drive to a shady looking detached garage, out when the bag and in came my friend with a brown lunch bag. he told me to open it, gave me a figure. then I was home, with a big smile on my face looking at my small slice of bonus from the fish store....shopping was on the agenda the next day.
unbenounced to us we would later find out, there was two strains of Bullrider, three if you count the local strain in OB only called Chillrider. Ive read a few people claim the OG clone only pheno is long gone, and I personally believe that to be true. the current bullrider is just to piney smelling to be, what I remember as Bullrider. if we ever had the real deal, I will never know..
TBH, I have to many strains I like to list really. most I have never run myself. lol
