Fantasy Basement Grow

OK, here's the hypothetical situation:

You have a relation with an empty house, which has a large basement - let's say 20x40 ft. You want to grow LOTS of green.
What do you do?
Go wild people...

you'd need to spend a hell of alot of money utilizing that kind of grow space, at LEAST 10 1k hps bulbs.

more than that, k....

fast calcs...I coulda fucked it up...but here's a basic lightng requirement to start...

veg room would be 12 x 20 and lit with 30 watts per sq ft of light.

this would take 12- 600 watt HIDs to accomplish...7200 watts of power and
120 amps @ 120v

bloom room is more insane...

20 x 28 @ 50 watts per sq ft. = 28 - 1000 watt hps lights...28000 watts and 280 amps of power.

right there yer maxin a 400 amp panel... God the eelctric co would love ya...until they had ya busted...

then there's ventilation. Geez...might as well hook up a TURBINE! Realistically...2 - 12"-14" Vortex/similar inline fans with 2100 cfm phat filters hangin off em....

and a fuggin huige bank of A/C units to cool it all....

add another 200 amp panel!

I'd say ya do less than 100 plants total in the space due to Fed laws in the US.

too many other little things to nail down for a hypothetical gig....

and hey..don't hold me to those figures.. it's the damn coffee and this cherry AK whappin my ass and makin me do it.... LOL

I'd build a wall down the center of the room. So, the basement is now divided into two equal parts - 20x20. We'll call this Room A and Room B.

Next, Room A is divided into two equal parts. These will form A-1 and A-2. Also, Room B is divided into a 15x10 (B-1) and 5x10 (B-2) sections.

Finally, the lighting is strung up. I went a little lighter on the lighting than most. I felt I should keep it somewhat reasonable.

Also, Room B-1 is strictly for enjoying the fruits of my labour in this house :joint:.
I figure I can use it for storage of other materials, trimming room, etc.

Interesting, thanks guys.
Jethro, awesome effort, gold star for you!

I was thinking 1000w HPS lights in cooltubes to deal with heat,
Lights on horizontal moving tracks to save lighting,
UK doesn't have such temp probs so I don't reckon massive AC is necessary,
I think B-1 is too large, and would just be storage, not a lounge,
Soil not hydro/bubble?

Keep posting guys, and remember - fantasy! Budget ain't an issue
(getting busted still is!)

Just some idiot
Wow Jethro, good work. I'm guessing you wouldn't go with the CFL closet grow you're doing.

Could a ping pong table fit in b-1?

I said it was for "enjoying the hard work." By that, I totally meant lounge.

Also, I would probably do a hydro-setup. If I'm putting that much time and effort into the setup, then I am pretty sure I would of setup up some permanent kind of hydro-system. It would just make sense if this was a legal-grow.

Yes... yes it would fit. :hump: I like where this is going. You could also do the trimming on the ping-pong table when it came time.
