Fan problem

hey everyone, got a quick question for yall - so i got two fans online, different sellers but i think same fan - one is wired up, and works reallllllyyyy well
- only problem is it works so damn well cus its a 115v fan - i had seen the same fan having a description saying it was 50decibels, which was supposedly twice the volume of breath a foot away -NOT TRUE, this thing can be heard easy across the small bedroom
anyways, anyone know how i could go about making it quieter?!?
also, when growing is it absolutely necessary to have the fan going at all times for one plant in a small growcase?

What fan is it?

Are you sure it isn't the air coming out of the ducting?

That looks like a CPU fan to me,not an inline fan.

This is my inline fan (between the 2 pieces of ducting). Inline fans are just fans mounted inside a metal tube.



You can see one of my CPU fans sitting on a pot towards the left in this pic ( i hadnt mounted that fan yet, it dosent sit on a pot now)

That fan came out of an old computer, i hooked up it w/ a cell phone charger cord.

These kind of fans I call computer fans.
They do make alot of noise.
I made a dryer out of an old kitchen cabinet to dry out my harvest.
I use the exact fan to exhaust the cabinet
while my cannabis is drying.

okaayyyy, i no its a cpu fan, but does anyone know how to make it quieter, is the general question of the thread....
maybe wiring it to a low power phone charger?

Yeah, lowering the v. will make it quieter but less affective. Most the time its just loud because it vibrating the thing its mounted on so I just make my carbon filter to hold it in place.

tried the vibration theory, wasnt that but it was a good idea, i thought u mightve been right connor

i also tried wiring it to a phone charger that said its output is only 5 volts, but it didnt work both times i tried- either its just too low of a voltage to start the fan, or i switched up the wires twice
...currently searching the house for something 10-20volts that i can take apart for a wire

Active Air Fan Speed Adjuster. www.ngw.com i use this on my 475cfm fan and it reduces the noise of the fan and lets me control the room temp as well.

you can also build a box for the fan, stuff it with insulation and leave 2 ports for for your vent hose. then hang it with bungie cords. that will reduse the noise.
