Fan leaves shrivled up 15 mins after adding new lighting.

I just added two 300W 2500k CFL bulbs to my set up, they are more than 3 inches away from the plants with 3 fans dispursing the heat + an exhaust fan sucking it out.

I put the bulbs in and the fan leaves of a couple of my plants shrivled up and took a shit on me.

What could be the problem? Should I have eased them into the new lighting or?

*edit* The wierd thing that I didnt add is that its ONLY the 1 set of fan leaves per plant - the new growth and undergrowth leaves are PERFECTLY fine... This threw me a huge curve ball lol im starting to think I should have just added one bulb a day until it was rdy.

Size and age of the plants will help, but yeah it sounds like they were unable to handle the increase in intensity..

Theyre 4 weeks old started from seed. Theyre about 6 inches tell, they have 4 nodes each going on a 5th that I topped (leaves are still small so I dont count the node lol) I will attempt to get pictures up here but its a serious process going from my blackberry to my photobucket to here lol.... I lost the fackin wire to upload them right from my phone.

One more detail I forgot to add because I didnt know (as a beginner grower) might have done it - When I put the new lights in I misted the plants with box temp. clean water (obviously no nutes in the spray bottle) From what I've been told from a family member who grows tomatoes, if you mist the plant in sun light the water causes more heat to be drawn to the plant therefor causing it to adjust badly to the tempurature.

Could this be the issue? The PH is 6.7-6.9 in each container - like I said the heat / humidity is in the perfect range also. Im starting to lean towards the water mist as I added the lights... I dont see the new growth being effected so yeah...

The misting is probably what did it, usually you can mist without a problem but since you misted at the same time you added more intense lighting it most likely burned the leaves.. cant turn back now, just let them grow and monitor the new growth for problems. Dont cut anything off of the plant, you will just cause more damage and stress to the plant.

Alright cool, thank you very much. The fan leaves are 100% curled so yeah theyre gone. I am going to leave it be and see what happens the top leaves are looking healthy I feel like yeah it had to be the mist with the light change - it probably raped the soaked leaves and heated them up so much that they couldnt handle it. Its funny my one plant in the back corner that I probably didnt mist too much looks like a monster it grew 2 nodes in less then 2 days.

Problem solved everybody, reps have been added for the help! If anybody reads this and can think of any other reason why my leaves are curled let me know, solution - Dont mist plants after adding a shit ton of lumens + heat.

and an even better solution is to never mist with the lights on, thats one of the reasons i like 18/6 veg, so if you do get any root problems you can always keep the plants fed with spray nutes up/under the leaves.
glad u got your grow sorted.
