For me , the fan on oscillating mode has not worked out . So now I have the fan pointing always straight at the seedlings which are under my LED stick lights that have adjustable brightness . The fan sits across the room about 12 feet away from the seedlings and the fan has 3 speeds and so now I have it on top speed high (3) both day and night . It is a floor fan with telescopic height adjustability .
And I turned the fan speed up to fastest mode . How far away the fan is from the seedlings will affect what speed you set it too . Keeping it 12 feet away gives me a wider coverage as when the fan is placed further away the beam of wind spreads out some and being further away the wind gets buffered down to a slightly slower speed by the time it hits the seedlings.
I have a basil group that shot up real quick on highest speed and not oscillating .
I switched to a coarser cut coco coir that dries out quicker .
The quicker the seedlings dry out , due to coarser coco coir and higher fan speed means more wind at night (I turn off lights at night to force oxygen to roots respiration ) and more respiration meaning more oxygen to the roots at night (I also keep my fan speed on the same high speed at night to get good oxygen respiration to the roots ).
I have gotten no wind burn on the leaves . That means my top speed on my fan does not produce wind high enough to get wind burn ,
My LED light sticks have adjustable light brightness , which means I can put the plants closer to the lights and reduce light brightness If I want to . I raised my seedlings closer to my LED light sticks this morning and see if I need to turn brightness down on LED light sticks .
I also add some organic matter mixed with mostly coco coir . As time goes by for the seedling , I occasionly add some organic matter ( such as dried powdered compost and hummus and things like this so that my grow medium is not purely coco coir but something that has nutrients and minerals and by adding this to my grow medium , the medium will then be able to store water and nutrients and minerals into the grow medium as a whole .
Also , I started using my cheap accurate digital scales and keeping track of the weight of each of my seedlings before and after watering or feeding them nutrients .
Also I add a small amount of minerals and micronutrients either before planting seed or after seed sprouts by applying a thin layer of minerals and micronutrients to the top of the grow medium . Either way , getting deficiencies of minerals or micronutrients is very perplexing problem and I would rather prevent the problem by using time release nutrients and minerals up front as a preventitive measure . Also my Primary Nutrients Liquid has boron and things like copper in micro dosage ,
Dialed in humor I have been thinking about recently .
Dialed in Peppers = f1( a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l,m,n,o,p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,y.z.A.,B,C,D,etc)
Dialed in Catnip = f2 ( a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l,m,n,o,p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,y.z.A.,B,C,D,etc)
f# = f#( a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l,m,n,o,p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,y.z.A.,B,C,D,etc)
I am a newbie on what leads up to needing the grow medium to flush out salt . So far I flush until the liquid coming out loses it brownish color and the parts per million meter drops to somewhere nearer towards the ppm of my tap water .
