Fall of the Clones, please help!

Alright, I don't have an airstone yet, but I'm considering getting one.

Last night after seeing my one clone live in tap water I built a box out of tupperware that could support 10 clones in this same system. I filled it with tap water and dropped the pH to 5.5. I then cut my new clones and dropped them in to the box (immediately after they were cut, 1 at a time.) then misted them and put the dome over 'em, then stuck them under the CFL.

This morning they're all dead/dying, again, except my one that was going strong, that one still lives but has some pretty vicious whiting on the top leaves.

Man this is discouraging! Clearly I have to try again, since I need clones. What can I do differently?

This is my second grow and I am trying to get my seedlings to grow so I can get some good mothers to make clones, I am having a hard time just getting my seedlings to grow. it is discouraging when u think u are doing everything right and it still is not working. Good luck man

I just fill a glass with tap water and stuff 12 cuttings in it. The glass sits on a shelf in the clone room, but is not directly under either of the lights in it (1 400 MH and 1 400hps). The only difference i SEE in our setups is that I am NOT adding chemicals of any sort,

What is Whiting? Is the tap water clone still showing healthy leaves?
Did you clip the leaves? Something I forgot to mention in earlier posts is that I cut the existing leaves about in half. Something about having less of a surface area to support lets the plant concentrate on root development at first..

Alright, I've tried three different methods of cloning now and have lost 100% of my clones in every method. It's done way too much damage to my plants. My babies are down to about 70% of their pre-clone size and I have no new plants at all. I don't think I'm going to be able to attempt another cloning, I'm going to have to just plant new seeds for next season and try cloning again on the next batch.

Update: After my last failed cloning attempt I didn't take any more cuttings from my plants and I started germinating new seeds. All of the new seeds successfully germinated and are planted under CFL right now.

As for my four flowing plants they are all doing well, despite their shorter stature from my failed cloning attempts. It's a damn shame, too, that my cloning failed, because all four of them are females! They started showing sex signs this morning.

In other news, I've deemed that my clones failed because my environment was too hot. I learned that the box they were placed in was over 100 degrees at the time (how did I not notice this before?!) That said I feel confident after much more research that I'll be able to clone my next set of plants with success, and will continue to tend to my flowering girls with the upmost attention.
