Fairfax four way

Does anyone know of this strain. The stankest of the stank aka ffx four way? If so does anyone think it still exists. It was clone form only in the 90’s and I was lucky and equally unlucky to have been able to grow it. (It was basically a big red arrow pointing at your grow room even with a carbon filter the size of a 55gal drum. I reallly miss my old friend. Help reunite us.

Good Luck. That strain was super popular in DC Metro area back in the mid late 90's early 2000's. My plug used to get 4-way on the regular. I grew out one in the early 2000's from found bag seed(herm). Very squat short indica plants that stunk to hell and back. Super potent though.

From my research you could get it pretty easily in seed form before 1995 from Sensi. It was from a Sensi Seeds pack when Neville was still working there and pre Netherlands Seed crackdown if I'm not mistaken.

I know of 2 companies that released it recently.

Bob Hemphill of Crickets and Cicada released the Fourora Borealis (4 Way x NL1) when he was with Coastal Seeds. Hopefully he will reverse it. Believe he is from Fairfax.

Matt Riot released the 4-Play (FFX 4-way x Blue Bonnet). I can only speak on the 4-Play as that is what I have grown recently. The few I've popped and smoked all leaned Blue Berry. Great plants just more blue berry than the onion garlic rank skunk smell that the old stuff had. The closest I've found is Hemphill's (Crickets and Cicada) Puck x Sensi Star in terms of smell, flavor and effect.

Rumors float that the cutting is still around DC metro area. I've also heard on various podcasts it was infected by HPLV or dudded out from folks on the west coast. Not sure who kept it around on the east coast. But since VA went legal the hunt has been on for FFX 4-way, VB Ghani & Schuyler skunk. A lot of folks claiming to have these but from my experience and friends hunting nobody has been able to find an actual cut of anything. Lots of dead ends and nostalgia hype.

Right on man. It’s that undeniable stank that jars have trouble containing that will let you know from afar if it’s Fairfax 4-way or it’s not. No that smell isn’t gonna put you in cuffs it’s perfect for a comeback. I sure hope that there’s still a cutting or mythical mountain man keeping her alive somewhere out there. Thanks for your wonderful info. I would love to check out the Fourora Borealis though.

So the smell thing I have a theory on. The reason we all remember the smell so much is because they were selling us partially dry/cured bud. Extra weight means extra dollars. Combine that with something that reeks and looks way nicer and you have a money printing machine. Back in the day we had 3 options in NOVA. Mexican Brick, Beasters & 4-way. I saw chem/diesel NYC bud every now and then but mainly it was 4way if you wanted any sort of nice bud.

The Washington DC gifting services I tried out for bud are notorious for this from my experience. The partially dry/cure buds that really stink.

The last 2 weeks of flower and the first month or 2 of dry into cure are when you smell it the most. I've grown a few Chems and OG's that stunk just as much as 4way and kept that super pungent odor for a month or 2 of dry/cure. The smell subsides a bit after 2 months of curing and you don't get that reek till you grind/break up the buds.

Never tried the Schuyler skunk or the FFX 4way but we had the VB ghani clone starting in mid nineties for many years along with a wicked origional old AK47 from serious seeds and a NL5 hybrid we created that was super fire . The VBghani grew big huge plants indoors and did well outside also. It is still to this day the strongest Indica we ever tried and we’re talking in 40 years of hunting, unreal expansion. She was a spider mite magnet when we got her , came in a cube of rockwool for 20$ . He actually gave us 2 of em for 20$ a piece. The 90’s were the pinnacle for ganga in our opinion, , todays weed is all the same with flavor and canibanoids bred out for potency. But the weed is no more potent now if not less potent . The highs are bland and one dementional. . The VB ghani was vigorous and never really got rid of the mites but she just powered through them . We trashed her (regrettfully ) because of the mites .. She is still talked about and around VB but held tight because the man who created it got broken into and ripped years ago at his grow. She is still around but hard to get . He had a nasty Super skunk and another hybrid we never got to try. I always wondered if that Super skunk was the one used by chemdog and crew for the sour deisel .. A lot of great weed on tour with the Dead . Wouldnt be surprised if its the same.

My buddy down in VA Beach has been trying like mad to track down the VB Ghani. I know a few breeders still work with it and its kept on lock and key which I get. I have found some excellent plants from recent seeds I have bought. Crickets and Cicada, Lucky Dog, Coastal seem to have that 90's type of buzz somewhat nailed down. I think people just want instant gratification these days vs actually hunting through making some selections and then running them all again.

I feel you on the 90's weed. It's def out there in seed form. From my experience. But if you are going through gifting or Dispensary its hard to find something that isn't cake, cookie etc because that is what the market is demanding. I'm just glad we have choice.

I'd imagine that story on Super Skunk is pretty true. I've listened to a variety of podcasts and they all are basically say the same thing. God bless the Dead hippies for keeping this shit around forever.

Yeah the original 4way was skunk x south Indian x north indian x Pakistani if my memory serves me right
That is correct from everything I have read or heard on various podcasts. Key being old Sensi Stock pre bust days while Neville was still with the company. Apparently post bust the seeds where never the same as they had all new breeding parents. I've not bought the current Sensi Seeds offering to compare. And it's been like 20 years since I had the FFX 4way so who knows. I do remember how it grows and Adam Dunn sums up the plant pretty much to a T on his pod cast
- they start talking about it around the 47-48 min mark.

Well I know this is an old post, but the ffx 4-way is back in town. You can buy the seed locally. Your so right it stunk up everything. The genetic are solid I'm from the area and remember it well just back from tech 03 and boy didn't think I'd find anything but beasters . Great strain.

Where locally? Are these S1's? The seeds that made it have to be around 30+ years old. Hopefully they revived via tissue culture.

I'll check them out for sure thanks! I've been collecting and growing anything that has 4way in it and all have turned up not even close to the cut that went around here in the late 90's early 2000's.
I'm hoping it's going 2 come close. . It was great in the past if it even comes close I'll be very happy

I'm not holding my breath. Would be a nice trip down memory lane.. But the modern stuff I've been growing is just as potent and nicer looking than that old 4 way. Maybe doesn't have the stank of that stuff.. But I swear the commercial guys that were slinging it in the 90's were selling half wet weed. My buddy used to get LB's of the stuff.
