Way to much censorship on FB now. I'm on yet another 3 day ban and all i said was 'someone should shoot the bastard'.

See i think it might be a cultural thing. Americans are always talking about shooting people. So I dont think it was that. Bastard is i understand it a bad word in America but isnt here. So the whole phrase in Australia isn't much of a big deal at all.

Its strange that in over 20 years on FB ive only been getting these silly little bans the last 2 years.

I am pretty positive I have never said anything about my shooting someone, so I don't know what Americans you are talking to that makes you think that is a thing, but I would question those relationships (unless you are talking about online trolls, then you should know better in the face of the attack on our democracies).

As for the last 2 years getting banned for saying shitty troll things, I would say it is about time more than anything. And am just surprised it is only for a few days at a time.

Someone only yesterday or the day before posted a pic of a pistol on here that they carry in their waistband and said that anyone who gets close will see the hollow point in the barrel...You may be blind to stuff like that as it surrounds you. I'm on sailing forums and Americans are always talking about guns on boats. Americans on FB are always talking about the right to shoot someone who steals their TV.

How is what i said a trolling thing? For starters it was on my own FB page in regard to the fkknuckle who broke out of hotel quarantine and is affected by Delta.

Threatening murder an actual person is a online trolling thing, if you don't get that I really don't know what to tell you man.

I dont disagree that it is shitty they broke quarantine though.

I never mentioned murder. Most people who are shot don't die.

You are still lumping Americans together. I will wager that 50% or more of the Americans on your sailing forum never once mentioned guns. Got the stats?

It's the same with hiking. More so with hiking forums than actually on the trail, but it is changing. You see guns on the trails a lot more than you used to. And folks feel the need to show them. They think people will feel safe, but it has the opposite effect. Lots of times people will pack up and put in a few more miles to get away from someone in camp with a gun. Most hikers will put distance between themselves and anyone they know to be carrying.

I didn't put a % on it. Its just noticeable an American thing. Sure often another American will say how embarrassed they are by the gun culture America has. But usually though its followed by "freedom" or "its international waters and i have a right.." etc, etc
I was reading one post the other day and this guy had a trip wire on his cockpit entrance that went to a trigger...

I'm on a few Motorbike forums as well and Americans often bring up the best way to carry whilst riding..

I’ve done bikes too, and have fielded remarks about my deviations from the idiom. So be kind to us American not-stereotypes.

I feel unsafe when a policeman is in the same area with me due to them being armed. I certainly wouldn't be camping near strangers who are carrying. I certainly wouldn't like to be in a boat with them.

odd, how he complains about something he ought to approve of if it were somebody else and a different situation.

White privilege isn't just an American thing.
Censorship? Never been a fan. One persons line to cross is different from another's, adding culturally different societies to the mix doesn't help.

20. Bastards
Often used to refer to the British, or anyone who doesn't play fair. The last Australian to be shot by an English firing squad in the Boer War, Breaker Morant, famously shouted his last words: "Shoot straight, you bastards!"
During the infamous 1932-33 Bodyline cricket series, English captain, Douglas Jardine, walked into the Australian dressing room to complain about being called a bastard. An Australian cricketer supposedly asked his team: "Which one of you bastards called this bastard a bastard?"
In politics, a third party, the Australian Democrats, was formed in the 1970s to "keep the bastards honest."

FB? Sorry not a fan. Kids asked me to sign up to see what we’re up to every second of the day. I signed up and within 12 hours had 50 invites to be friends, I have enough friends and him snd I talk everyday……… just fucking call me. As for the shooting someone remark. I think, and I could be way wrong, but it takes in a different meaning when you live in a country that it is actually not that uncommon. Here when we say “you should shoot the fucker” it does not mean literally pull out your handgun and shoot someone :(. I try and not say that on this site (only social media I’m part of) because it has more of a literal meaning IMO. Although yes I have eluded to that hope with drump…. We can dream yes?
