A few weeks ago I picked up what I hope was a great deal on some LED bars & drivers. I found someone listing everything pictured for $50.

After unleashing my inner pawn broker I was able to talk him down to $25... For everything.

Here's the spec sheet on the bars...

Here's a close up of the ballast...

I'm debating on either making one large panel with all 10 bars or arranging them around the walls of my flowering tent for sidelights.

Thoughts?

Worth $25?

I'm thinking all 10 of those mounted 3 or 4 inches apart would make one hell of a lamp, but they almost seem too perfect for a sidelight use!

Decisions decisions...

The drivers alone cost $25 a piece you fuckin Scored!
But too bad those LEDs are 5700K. Not good for flowering at all. BuuuuuuuT they're fuckin CREE XP-E's and that's sweet as hell. Still very useful but more for veg.
Drivers are non dimmable, 60watts 24V. Not super powerful, but you got 240-280W of power there at least with 4 of em! There's plenty of Samsung Strips that are 24V you could use those drivers for.

It said on the data sheet you provided that their CCT was 5700-6500k. If you have 3000-4000K you're good. But id use those drivers on Samsung strips where you get a few hundred diodes rather than 5 XP-E's.

Those would make a nice little lamp, blended with some 660nm. Check out the Buddies thread.

Did you notice the part at the end on the right about needing an external heat sink? Or are the strips they're mounted on the heat sink? Total nOOb here about those things.

A good score is a good score either way!

The guy was probably hard up for cash to buy TP on the BM. ;)

:peace:

For $25, heatsinking those isn't even worth the trouble. If they burn up, so be it. There's way better strips those drivers could be running anyways. You know they're 5600K-6700K right? I would definitely stay away from flowering with them.

U can always run bxebs to, the two foot ones are 24 volts if your ones now blow out or if u wanna change to a better strip but dope setup.

White knobs are the lenses covering the LED's. Black squares are some sort of electrical wizardry cast down through time from Merlin himself no doubt...

I'd take the lenses off. Very cool find though!

That's a sweet lighting setup for a low-cost veg/propagation room.
I threw it in my flower tent just to see what it would look like and I'm pretty happy...

I sure do wish they were 3200ish instead of 5700!

This is my 5 x 5 and currently my flowering tent. Seeing how nicely that rig turned out I think I'm finally gonna pull the trigger and build my flower room.

I currently have three separate tents set up in one 10' x 10' basement room...

Left to right:

5' x 5' Flowering tent
3' x 4' Vegging tent
2.5' x 2.5' Mother tent

While the trippy picture may give the illusion of adequate space trust me there is not. I find that I never even bother to zip up my veg tents anymore since this room is 100% dedicated. My plan is to build a partition wall diving the room and light-proofing the "flower" side so I can forego this zip\unzip madness. I'm also fortunate in that this room has independent heating and cooling . When summer gets here I should be able to keep up with my window unit.

As I type this the world is in chaos as the coronavirus ravages the United States. Several states are under "shelter in place" or "stay home" orders with all non-essential workers ordered to stay at home. I work in a Mental Health Hospital, so off to work I go.

The numbers in this pic represent totals as of 11:38 am Central time.

We aren't even close to getting through this thing, but being able to focus on growing medicine for my wife, instead of competing with hoarders for it, is nothing short of a miracle. I've been waiting over 20 years to do this legally and it couldn't have come at a better time.

My very first plant came up female and I'm absolutely stunned I grew it. I read (a lot) a few books before the first grow, but I never expected this...

Here she is waaaaaaay back on Dec 25th before it became a DWC! (I over-watered it BAD when I brought it home. I attempted a rescue by rinsing off the roots and inserting in an aerated DWC system)

About another week or two and I plan to attempt a supercrop.

Really? Hmmm... I'll give it a try for sure. I just so happen to have a decent PAR\LUX meter. I'll make sure to take some readings before I take them off to see if there's any noticeable difference in spread, strength and what-not.

Nope... for $25 they got bolted straight to some 1/4" plywood wrapped in mylar.
