Eye protection, snow goggles?

Should be fine. I use normal safety glasses from work. Definitely don’t need 70-150$ grow shop glasses lol

Canada and Europe have uv protection for their safety glasses,I assume the states do too.

The reason for my post is eye health concern. I use sun glasses right now but light slips through here and there, and I can feel strain on my eyes if exposed to these full spectrum lights.

If snow goggles with full sun lens works this would make me able to work when lights on, and as long as I cover my skin for the long sessions that shouldn't be a problem either, right?

...Better? When it comes to your eyes, you should require the BEST.

Goggles that block UV aren't going to block red light and the red light we can't see. The lights we use emit that type of light with HIGH INTENSITY.

Furthermore, when wearing tinted lenses, your eyes dilate. When your eyes are dilated, you will absorb more light... the HIGH INTENSITY light that your UV blocking goggles/sunglasses don't block!!!

Nice rant/point... but he's just wanting to go in the tent to tend to the plants.. not stare at his lights. Why don't you finish off by telling the OP to wrap his body in mylar to protect his skin bongsmilie :lol:

As I mentioned I allready use sunglasses, but I wanted to upgrade. I AM trying to get the best for my eyes.
Thought if goggles have uv protection(a, b & c), it would be same or better than normal sunglasses cause no light escape on sides.

Isn't the sun blasting out IR and all other wavelenght at much higher intensity than our led lights?

And please if u do rant, be so kind to leave some good old info and maybe a link too :D

I wear normal safety glasses you would find at any construction site, Tinted ones if I’m feeling fancy.. that being said ya you probably shouldn’t stare at bulbs regardless of what your wearing.
I also wear a ball cap if I’m in the tent for a long time helps a lot with the glasses.

If your extreme wear a long sleeve shirt too

I'm thinking wearing something to cover Ur skin if working in there for several hours couple times a week isn't extreme? But again I got no clue, which is why I posted

Ya I'm def not gonna stare at them. Cap should help but u know I get it in my eyes from even the floor and walls :o

If your in the tent for hours a day long sleeves couldn’t hurt.
I don’t take my health as seriously as I should I guess lol. If I ever have someone looking at my grow I give them glasses and warn them though

Snow goggles work great, since you're working under the light, you really need the extra coverage to keep your eyeballs from getting fried. Just make sure they've got the UV rating-UV 400....cheap ones work fine in that case. If you have money to burn, you can't beat true polarized goggles though.

My experience. I first used regular sunglasses under 18 HLG's quantum boards. It's like 1.4 million lumens of light. I was getting headaches, flashing out of the corners of my eyes in the daylight, etc. I invested in some Method Seven glasses, specifically built for LED lighting. About $120 US dollars. I don't know what the technology is, but it works for me. What I found interesting is that I can take a picture of my Spartan controller's digital display with my iPhone, and all the digits do not appear in the photo. When I put my Method Seven glasses in front of the camera lens, all the digits are there. Some kind of voodoo going on there. Anyways.... LED's flash at an incredible rate, and it can fuck with your brains receptors.
