Eye Hortilux 315cmh 4x4 tent

I have been away for awhile, anyways I am back now and getting back into the swing of things.
I have a 2'-1/2"x5x5 seed/sprout tent, a 4x4x6'-1/2" veg/flower tent. In my 4x4 I picked up an eye hortilux 315cmh and planned on running 2 during flower but the 3ft over canopy has me worried. I have never run cmh but have used mh/hps in the past and not use to that height over canopy.

Has anyone run that light? Does it really need to be 3ft above canopy or is that just their marketing for their bulb? I have 2 6" exhaust and 1 4" intake fan plus portable a/c if I need it. So heat isnt my main concern.
Thanks for any help

you do need to run them high but can add about 100w more of light in there I'd recommend doing LEDS maybe COBS would suite you
315 of cmh will be fine in there though!

Ok looks like I am gonna need a taller tent!
With it needing to be 3ft above canopy it only leaves me to a max plant height of 2.5ft if I am lucky.
I was thinking 2 timber daises (1 on each side of 315) but do they really produce like hid lighting does? I also thought about a 600w hps in there if I dont do another 315. FWIW I am doing 4 plants planned on 2 but buddy talked me into 4.
2 grape ape
2 strawberry banana
This is all really just for me, so I want to produce the best medicine I can for myself. I do some outs and really prefer it but with the room I have I cant produce enough for myself for the year.

Hey so the 3 foot above canopy only for the hortilux 315 bulb or does that go for all 3100k bulbs. I'm asking cause im almost done with my first grow and I've been running much lower light heights than that and now I'm getting worried. Thanks to all that reply on this subject!

I'm running Philips 3100k bulbs in mine. I have them about 24" and everything growing perfectly.
At first, I used a lux meter to try dial them in and set them a little lower (18") but I did get some tip bleaching on the buds...so I lifted them up to 24" and left them.
I'm running 2 - 315 in a 4x8....one on each end and an Aglex 2000 (420 true watts) in the middle for flower.
Was working great until one of my ballasts decided to die suddenly. Waiting for a replacement now.

Best advice I've ever gotten on light hight, is hold your hand under the light, if it's to hot for your hand, it's to hot for the plant. It's never failed me.
