I was first feeding my plants tap water and having some problems with stunted growth and yellowing, so i bought a ph meter. I tested the soil and its at 4!!! I tested the tap water and its about
4. I immediately switched to filtered water with ph of 6.8. even after flushing my plants with filtered water the soil remains at 4. How can i raise the ph of the soil without having to mix stuff into the soil. Im looking for something cheap or household if possible please help my church and great white shark seedlings, they need you

Thanks

Did you buy soil for roses?

There's not much you can actually do, it would take alot of gallons of pH Up to lower a pH of 4, since the pH scale is exponential.

The only real solution is to buy new soil, o a range of 6-7 (6.5-6.8 is ideal), and transplant. Otherwise your seedlings will surely die.

you can try using dolomite lime to neutilize the soil. anyway you could mix some powder into the top few inches of soil? if this is possible you can easily get some dolomite and mix it in to the soil and slowly water it with your filtered water.

"without having to mix stuff into the soil."? What is that?

Go buy some dolomite lime from your local garden store, mix a teaspoon to each gallon of watter, and watter with that for a while.

Vinegar is for salad dressing (and acid), and backing soda isn't for plants.

If by chance you have access to some wood ash, they are a very quick fix to sweeten the soil. About a tablespoon of ash per gallon of container. You can add more later and even thoughout the grow just keep a close eye on your ph. I only have to add once per grow. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for your responses
Im using fox farm soil never had problems. I'm used to well water but i dont have it where i live now. Im going to try using lime i guess. Would you recommend using it on a plant 1-2 weeks into flower if the soil is ph 5.5 i noticed she is starting to slow in growth as well, i think the ph in my tap water has changed because ive grown a few plants with no signs of ph problems using my tap water and now all my plants are fucked up. i flushed the seedlings and they look greener already although soil ph has not risen much.

Picked up some decent buds today but im sick of buying. I cant wait until this cali hash plant is done flowering. Im going to make a complete journal once she's done . I vegged only 2 weeks and topped one week into flowering. using about 100 watts of cfl's.

It is safe to use dolomite at all points of the plants life. well maybe not the last 2 weeks of her cycle. you can add it either to the top layer of soil or you can add it via water. i would go with the top layer of soil it you can access it. this will also help aerate the soil allowing more oxygen and water to pass threw it evenly.

so i got lime and mixed it into like top 2 inches of soil. I flushed with 2 gallons of ph 7 water for the second time after waiting for the soil to become completley dry. Tested runoff still is low and my soil is still below 5.5. I fed her just alittle molasses after i flushed and i ph uped the mix to 7. Is it ok to ph up the water every watering using lime if needed and when adding nutrients just say if the water is 6 and you add nutes and it goes to 5 is adding lime untill it reaches 6.8 efficiently ph ing your water? is my soil eventually even out to 6.5-7 . Is this whole acidic soil thing going to seriously extended my harvest date?
