O.K. Last night I was at the casino playing poker and decided to leave and go get some food with a few friends. Anyways we go eat and when I get back in my car the battery is dead. I try to jump my car and it doesn't even want to jump. After about 45 min. it finally starts and I drive home. Well this evening I go to the car and try and start it and the damn battery is dead again. I go to the garage get a battery charger and set it to 20 amp start and it is just clicking not even trying to start. So I ask my girl to start it while I watch to see if it has a good contact. Well that turned out to be a very bad idea as when she turned the key over the battery EXPLODED all over me... I mean it exploded the whole top and the side of the battery blew out. The metal plates in the battery were hanging out the sides and shit.. Gave me a heart attack...DAMN...

Has anything like this ever happened to anybody else..If so what the hell caused it..

Are you okay?
This happen to my ex, charged it, then when we started it boom! exploded all over. Not sure why though. It was pretty scary I will tell you that! He got pushed back from the force. Damn lucky you and he didn't freakin get burned or die.
Get a new battery dude, and don't try that again.

Voltage regulator could be causing it...or the starter...or altenator...the alt/starter arent expensive to replace...well neither should the voltage regulator. Anyway, it'll be a pain to figure out but not too costly to fix.

Oh...and glad to hear you didnt get hurt. A buddy of mine had hot water splash his face while checking his water level. Burned the skin off half his face. He stayed inside like a hermit for 4 months.

I had it happen to me, but I was driving the car. Just heard a big THUD under the hood. Got home and found a cracked battery with acid everywhere. It may just be a defect in the battery, in your case, since it was hooked to the charger and not your car when it exploded.

rsupload it was still hooked to the car. I just set the charger to quick jump and tried to jump it.

Anyways good news. I just had a friend come over and look at it. Last time I got it fixed some1 taped the battery cables together and they were getting so hot that it was killing my battery. example....Like there was a metal wrench from the positive to negative terminal. Untaped the cables, new battery, and were back in business.

Well...I meant at the time it was being charged by the battey charger and not the alternator (since the car wasn't running). Glad you got it figured out and very glad you weren't hurt.
