Expert Advice Needed

I was thinking about investing in an ebb & Flow system. But where do the weeds grow in this setup? Do they just fill the tank or somethin? http://growwurks.com/images/view.aspx?productId=32 How large is the reservoir in this pic? I can't find any website that will give me the size of the reservoir in gallons. I want something low maintenance. So is there a risk that the roots will clog up the drain pipe or the dispense hose as they get bigger? Is an airstone required with this set up? Also, what do ppl mean by flushing in an ebb & flow system? Does that mean setting the timmer to "ebb & flow" twice a day- meaning it gets watered every 12 hours or is it talking about a reservoir change every week to 2 weeks? Some of this lingo is a bit confusing. Also, I was looking into the aerograden setup. How come this is not a good choice for beginners? It just seems like it sprays a fine mist and there's no potential clogging to be concerned about. Any guidance is much appreciated. Thanks.

OK first the res is 20 gallons, in hydro you always run into the chance of something clogging up, an air stone is required for the res.. flushing the ebb & flo means running ph'd water in your res for 1 to 3 days I would recomend never not changing your res for a week for you and can run in to root problems... also if you want to try hydro before you jump into it an aero garden is a good place to start ...

What do you mean by "never not changing your res for a week?" Do you mean never go as much as a week without changing it? Anyway, I have to disagree on the aerogarden. Not worth the money and just too small. The tiny res creates lots of problems the newbie doesn't need. I would recommend starting with a simple DWC, a passive bubbleponics. That means a bucker or tote with several airstones and a good pump. That alone will create all the mist in the netpot space a seeding could ever want or use. No submersible pumps, no feeder tubes. You will learn a lot from that and get great yields.

It seems to me about half the growers who start that way just stick with it, and the rest move up (or at least move on) to either active ebb and flow or aeroponics. I believe marijuana is a simple honest weed that deserves to be grown in a simple honest system, that's why I like passive bubbleponics. Easy to diy too.

I'm not talking about the brand name aero graden. I'm talking about the method http://www.hidhut.com/catalog/rainforest-66-six-site-aeroponics-system-p-523.html aeroponics.
If you are interested in aeroponics which I don't recommend for a novice you can make your own for a fraction of the price of that in the link.I myself love flood and drain (ebb and flow) and I recommend to anybody interested in hydroponics. It's a great growing method for a novice or expert.

Thanks for the advice, but not all of my ?s got answered or I didn't understand some of these posts so I'm gonna highlight the questions that I need to reask. Thanks everyone for being patient with me.

The plants sit in a grow tray,I flood 3x's a day 15-30 min. intervals.Change the reservoir every 1-2 weeks.

Plant flushing means you get rid of pollutants, fertilizer salts, toxins and other harmful materials so your crops smell and cure with better aroma, taste and value. Because your plants store nutrient materials that create problems with crop taste, curing and aroma, flushing plants at the end of bloom phase is a way to increase the quality and worth of your crop.
If you don’t flush your plants of hydroponic nutrients and other pollutants, people will complain that your crops have a “chemmy” taste.
Also people flush when plants have nutrient lock up caused by over fertilizing.

Aeroponics is very unforgiving, plant roots sit in a dark chamber without much or any medium which results in optimum oxegen uptake and are sprayed on a set cycle which commonly is 1 min on 5 min off.Plants grow at a very fast rate even faster than traditional hydroponics, but in any power failure pump failure or clogged sprayer(s) plants can die within hours.Which means more monitoring.
